I wanted to include links to other related communities in this community. I was trying to come up with terms for all these related relationship types, and then I remembered that this venn existed. I’ve seen numerous versions of this previously. Solo polyamory, relationship anarchy, and hierarchical stuff I think need to be better represented.
I avoid a lot of stuff I consider to be hierarchical nonsense. Stuff like “I need permission from my other partner for stuff I do with you”. Anything with “veto power” is right out.
Con sex is probably over represented? I don’t know if that deserves a whole bubble on its own. Seems like a more specific instance of something else.

I’m pretty sure “intentionally over complicating things for entertainment” overlaps significantly with most forms of “Non-monogamy”, and with “the human experience”. ;-) The pertinent question is, which of these rectangles/ explanatory examples fits for a given person, and which one’s don’t? I believe this diagram was developed to help us understand where we fit in the poly-schema we’ve developed.
