Or laugh at them. Seems to me that the problem is way too many people taking them seriously and encouraging them.

How else are you going to conserve your world view?

My first exposure to sci-fi + magic were the Shadowrun novels. I enjoyed reading them years ago, but not sure how well they’ve held up.

In other words, third party candidates could win, ending the dictatorship of the winner that’s the automatic result in a democracy with only two options (or a stalemate where nothing gets done if two government bodies are controlled by opposing parties.)
