1·2 个月前You can avoid using detergent pods, fabric softeners, and even liquid derergents on most machines, though the damage to the machine might already have beem done, and may require the help of a professional.
You can try to sanitize it though, by running a hot cleaning cycle with a cup of white vinegar or two to help dislodge sediment and remove some of the smell.
Fabric Softeners leave a film on everything. This may make your clothes ‘feel softer’, but can build up in the machine. It can also make towels less absorbative. The same goes for Dryer Sheets.
Pod detergents can be useful, but you are getting far less soap for their cost. Plus, if the pod doesn’t fully dissolve it can add to the sediment.
Liquid detergent is mostly water, which you are already adding at the start of most wash cycles. Even thr concentrated ones have added water.
Powdered detergent is far cheaper, and you don’t need much more than the 1 or 2 ‘amounts’ listed for most loads.
I also add a bit of Oxi-clean to help my clothes smelling neutral, especially with artificial fabrics.
The Dryer is simple enough, low heats for wool\delicates should be fine. Med/Light settings is enough for most loads. If it’s still damp, run it for ~20 minutes. If it’s still damp again, check the lint filter and remove some of the driest items and try again.
Don’t overstuff the machines and clean the lint filter every load. The lint will build up and keep your clothes from drying out at best, and can cause a fire at worst.
In lieau of dryer sheets, they make little wool dryer balls that help keep things fluffy.

I’m not convinced they didn’t spend 3 months sewing electodes into the braindead body for some modern “Weekend’s at Bernie’s”-type operations.
