    I don’t think there’s an easy answer here tbh, like yes they’re taking advantage of a healthcare system without providing a lot in return for China, but at the same time it’s still good that people are getting treated. Also, I feel that this helps the westerners see the Chinese system’s achievements firsthand, which creates a more favorable picture of socialism in the long run, so it’s worth it imo. That being said, we don’t know the numbers, so no easy definitive answer.

    What he said here is shit and I think it’s worthy of criticism, but I still think that his work is great and what he’s doing is great. Also, I get it. I get breaking down and just having A Moment about America, especially when your country is on the receiving end of imperialism. He certainly should have vented in private but I do get what prompted him to act this way.

    1. sadly not yet, but I’ve been meaning to learn, though, since I quite literally work 7 days a week, learning stuff is difficult
    2. I live close to the border with Moldova, so I don’t have to cross half the country, fortunately.
    3. For now, the US - my wife and her polycule live there, they’re fortunate enough to just barely afford owning a house. Afterwards, not sure yet, but either Japan(most of us know the language at least partially, and some have work connections, so it’s an easy place to start), Costa Rica, China(assuming we find a way in), or Vietnam.

    I am a teacher, but I teach Russians and Ukrainians English, so techniques might not translate 1 to 1, but I would suggest looking out for media and building a very basic vocabulary using a dictionary and translating the words to your native language. Then, once you’re comfy with a base, ditch the dictionary and get a chinese-only one - a dictionary where new chinese words are explained using simple chinese, so that you build up a habit of thinking in chinese eventually (this process will take a long while, possibly years). As for the base that you have to build up before that - can’t exactly say how much you’ll need. Look for media in chinese with english or native subtitles and try to listen to it multiple times, piecing together what stuff means. Additionally, try to look for pirated textbooks. IIRC chinese grammar is simple and elegant, but you still will have to learn it.

    Yeah, it’s bleak here. I’m not a Ukrainian despite being born here - yes I have legal ties to this country and I speak the language and have lived here all my life, but the people feel alien to me, their culture is not mine and I do not intend to practice or remember anything from it, I don’t use the language to actually talk to people as I hate every moment I am forced to interact with them. It’s liberating knowing that I’m devoid of culture and nationality in a material sense, but also weird. I wonder if I would feel different had the things gone better.
