Maybe it’s just me but… no you won’t? like what? I don’t think I ever owned a car under 100k miles… Imagine being like “ope car’s like 8 years old time to throw it out”

I guess old clunkers are the purview of poor people and amateur mechanics but still, absent a specific problem with the car this makes no sense.

I don’t think this is actually a school. China-knowers feel free to correct me, but it seems like a public market or cafeteria with facial recognition for payment (probably through alipay or one of the other big players)

Is this actually a school, though? the propagandist posting this didn’t bother to check certainly (edit: and didn’t even claim it specifically). It doesn’t really look like one to me, and facial recognition would make a lot more sense as payment, not as school ID.

edit: I say 20k because its 20k MORE than the discrepancy last year at this time

edit 2: I did a little googling, seems like for the past year+ they’re keeping production at full bore and just trying to incentivize more demand but it isn’t there (for teslas, some other brands are garnering more interest). There are overflow lots within a few miles of most of their dealers, plus probably more elsewhere?

in my experience that’s likely. The lemmy UI produces some weird results like that, but the backend is solid. Like on profile pages, you don’t see all comments and posts in chronological order, it seems to grab the most recent x number of comments and x number of posts, and makes a list from that, so usually it will be like “comment comment comment post comment comment post post post post post” with a glut of older posts at the end

yeah, I have had one or two comment replies just disappear and not notify me, and I suppose that’s just the ones I’ve gone back and noticed… There might be something going on here

idk, this one doesn’t seem that unhinged in the grand scheme of things. Like obviously the behavior was unacceptable, but I think its a position many pretty reasonable people could find themselves in.

true cashless, ie; a moneyless society.

I’m young and like cash, I don’t give a shit about saving a few seconds when I buy coffee or whatever, if anything the slight slowness makes the interaction better or is neutral, and it takes things like tipping out of the control of the business owner to disable electronically (in addition to not being subject to built-in electronic surveillance and not forcing me to use technologies and do business with companies I prefer to avoid). I’m not against tap-to-pay or anything being an option, just annoyed at the removal of cash as an option.
