I made a Mastodon account during that blitz in '22. Yes, content wasn’t there yet, but honestly, it was the interface for me. It’s UI didn’t feel simplistic enough to me as someone just getting started with it.
Lemmy may have faced a similar fate for me if it weren’t for the smooth interface of Sync to be honest. I know many on here are leaps and bounds beyond my tech proficiency, but so many folks are still in the stone ages writing their passwords on post-it notes etc so to think that they’d adopt something like Mastodon over Twitter or Lemmy over Reddit seems like the bigger counterparts will always win just on sign-up flow and instant gratification.
Sounds like this clown lives in that one blip in Nebraska or whatever that can impact shit, you know what to do bois. Electoral vote this mofo out the comments section! /s (chill)

Well, concepts of a plan
I remember being in 3rd grade and learning about the electoral college and thinking, “that’s the stupidest fucking thing I’ve ever heard of”. Still true to this day.
Nowadays, everybody cracks eggs like they got something to bake, but nothing comes out, when they move their whisk, just a bunch of jiggilin’, and mothercluckers act like they forgot about eggs.
Not gonna dig through their Twitter feed, but I saw someone a couple months ago ask them this exact question on one of their posts, and they wrote a pretty interesting response. They basically said, we’re still here, trying to fuck the system up, but, with all the information we’ve provided and ported out there to the world, y’all haven’t done dick with it. Laws haven’t been passed, politicians haven’t been ousted, corporations are still abusing the systems. So they were basically saying, what good is them leaking and hacking if the public doesn’t take a more activist approach towards change themselves and hold the people they expose accountable.
I’ve also been thinking and expecting that they will create their own fraud this time. Evidence is what they were missing last time around. So imagine this time, drop boxes get flooded with phony ballots that they themselves put in for Kamala. Then they can point the finger and say “See! We told you so!” and it’s enough for the state legislations not to certify and call things into question.
Closed my X account a couple days ago. He’s truly gotten out of control and my feed had become riddled with conspiracy theory fear-mongering garbage. Good riddance. I encourage others to leave as well, it’s the only way he’s held accountable unfortunately.
I’m calling the police.
Many good points on here. I’d also suggest watching “Get Me Roger Stone”. In it, Stone basically details his secrets to getting the ‘silent majority’ to pay attention. He says that fear is a bigger motivator than love. He says that the uneducated can’t tell the difference between entertainment and politics. There’s so many lines in that documentary that will make your ears perk up and be like, damnt, this was exactly how they did it.
Lol, never said I was important. It can be a great source of information and news and I enjoy staying up-to-date on stories big and small. That’s the hard part to walk away from. Take 'er down a notch.
Not at all, I’ve been feeling that it’s time to move on for a while now. It’s hard to leave because I do care about staying active and up-to-date on political discourse, but this truly doesn’t feel like that’s what it is any more. It’s yelling into a void. I fear for the sake of many less in tune with what political discourse should be that this is the only diet they’re being fed anymore. It’s a scary path we’re headed down. All the love to you as well, stay groovy 🤙
You’re 100% right.
I’m sure like many, my ‘X’ feed has felt injected with right wing posts since Elon took over. Just maybe two or three days ago, I noticed a new trend of posts it was serving to me. This whole weird new trough of posts has been super alpha male vibes and ‘hot’ women shaming men for playing video games. I legit wonder if this story has anything to do with why that’s being targeted at me, a very casual gamer, now.
We all need to stop using Twitter to be fair.
Or she’s still my friend and mentor, one of those two, I’m not sure.
Finally, a chance to tell Mom, Andrew, Jeremy, and Doug, that they’re only important enough for a stranger on the internet to want to decipher their semi-crossed out names and nothing more!
