I was told that Slay the Spire 2 was a good way to break my video gaming anhedonia due to its “addictive gameplay.”

But I want to play a cozy game (or any “non-stressful game” or whatever that may be) like Palia or Fields of Mistria or maybe even an MMORPG like Windrose (I still love this genre even though people hate them now, particularly MMORPG fans LMAO); besides, Pirates of the Caribbean Online was my jam back in the day before they discontinued it).

I was told to play Stardew Valley but got distracted from playing it at home due to the usual drama and tedium of home and family life that comes with it back in Virginia. I could probably play it right now on mobile though. It’s still the “best” cozy game but I want to play a new game or more recent game, idk why exactly.

Oh, and I might try Warframe (again) due to the extensive queer culture that supports the game (everyone on ARC Raiders calls me “bro” or “dude” or whatever and I don’t… like it lol). I would have preferred Soulframe (I love medieval-type shit, ngl) but I can’t play it on my laptop due to graphical and performance constraints on that thing.

I play mainly through the GeForce Now app now (yeah, yeah, I know, but it’s basically how I play now; I don’t have up-to-date consoles anymore, though I am still trying to get RetroArch to work on my Redmagic Astra, which can play most games except, say, PS5 games). I wouldn’t mind getting a Switch 2 here in Spain; could probably even get it here for cheap on Facebook Marketplace, ngl. Wouldn’t mind playing the new Tomodachi Life or Animal Crossing or Pokopia on Switch 2 (as you can see, I am very much interested in cozy games now; not really interested in intense shit unless it’s perhaps a Dynasty Warriors game where I can just tune out and go through the gameplay and have fun).

As you can see, I have already mentioned a few games here that I may potentially play, but I am trying not to get attached to a dumb “backlog” or “go through a checklist.” If I find one and like it, then I will play it. I just want to relax again and have fun. I kinda want to avoid getting a Switch 2 for the time being, maybe for a month, so I am not distracted by more video games. I probably will play Soulframe when it is out on Steam or whenever I can play it on my GeForce Now app. The only other game that I may play is Dynasty Warriors 3 Remastered Edition or whatever and that isn’t out yet.

So in total, I’m interested in:

Cozy stuff

MMO or maybe any game with fun multiplayer, maybe asymmetrical like the Dark Souls trilogy or Elden Ring without being a hassle or a distraction

Medieval stuff

Nautical stuff

Good and fun gameplay (dunno how to describe it, I may not even care if the story sucks, I just want to enjoy gameplay again)

Etc. (you can kinda glean some of my other interests from here but I will leave it at that for now)

The anti-doomscrolling apps as of late are honestly the best invention of the 2020s (but also partly in response to the worst invention of the 2020s, that being genAI).

I am still getting used to the ones I have been trying out recently.

I was told that the Freedom app was the best one.

Frankly, I may pay a subscription if I have to, but we shall see.

I should just play Minecraft.

I have never once played Minecraft, to be clear.

I am in Europe and the average European clearly lives better than the average American in every metric possible.

I lived in a very noisy Latino/a neighborhood in Virginia.

It was terrible.

No walkability.

No basic services (or they were so obscure or obtuse and not readily available that people didn’t know about them).

Racism, sexism, transphobia, etc.

Nobody knew their neighbor or recognized anyone.

Just… insufferable.

Everybody was pissed off or mentally ill (I hate the term “mentally ill,” but they were very depressed and had a lot of, I would argue, “psychological damage,” never mind the trauma, which I would argue is somewhat separate).

I am in Spain, which is technically better than most European countries, but of course, has multiple problems, true enough.

But truth be told: I cannot fathom Virginia or even the wider United States being better than Spain by any metric whatsoever.

Idk. Maybe a mental block for me at this point.

To be fair, a good Greek comrade once told me that “Greece is America in 5 years.”

I do get the sense that Europe is headed that way.

But honestly, for the time being, in most places, it seemed better than the United States, imho

“Genocide denial” is anathema to moral and civil discourse and general society.

Not without reason or merit, mind you, I would argue.

But

It is an example of corporate news, governments, letter agencies, etc. trying to use people’s emotions and values and morals to get them to support their side, their capitalist dominant narrative.

Honestly, pointing out that there is ample evidence for the ongoing Palestian genocide right now (never mind the wider Nakba that’s still going on as well) and showing how little evidence of, say, the Uyghur genocide there is (some vague satellite images, that picture of an Indonesian prison that gets floated around, etc.) is not a bad tactic.

I’m sure that conservatives and liberals will continue to argue on and on and on, though I think many will be on worse footing (if you’re trying to convince others; try not to get into Internet arguments willy-nilly, just pick your battles wisely for the sake of your time).

Honestly, I think we are sort-of going through a “new wave” (in particular, 2025 - 2026).

Don’t sweat it. I was radicalized around the year 2010 (I believe this was in the lead-up to the War on Libya) but that doesn’t make me superior to you (or anyone else that was radicalized beforehand way before, FYI).

What matters it that you’re here. Kick ass and all that. But try not to fall into dark spirals and dark rumination spirals or thought-loops.

I learned that the hard way.

Be optimistic, even just remind yourself of the good things (liberals will tell you to “gratitude journal” or whatever, but I’m telling you, as an ML, to be positive (if you can in the moment, that is; don’t force it) and think of all the opportunities and victories yet to come, never mind the opportunities and victories popping up now.

This book in particular is very… biased, from what I have heard.

Lots of focus on what Trotsky did and achieved. Other characters (not just Stalin but others that survived past the 1920s or past the 1930s) seem predictably sidelined or even castigated or belittled by the narrative.

It’s basically “narrative history” (by a speculative fiction author).

But I feel that it’s not the best book on the October revolution out there, from what others have told me.

However, as I have said, I have not read it and, of course, many of my friends who said this are now MLs.

So idk, I guess the bias goes both ways (yeah, yeah, I know, there’s no such thing as “unbiased,” I’m just explaining myself).
