  • Yeah this is kind of the conclusion I’ve come to. I don’t really know what it is that ‘see’ is really supposed to mean. I mean very obviously I don’t see it in the same way as I see an object in front of me, but at the same time there is still an apple that has various characteristics and exists in some way within some sort of mental space, and whose attributes, including ones which for a real apple would be visual, I can be aware of and understand

  • It’s really striking to me how the climate has shifted online since Biden won. Obviously libs have always been anticommunist, but under Trump I feel like there was at least a vague understanding that the far right is a legitimate threat in the way that the far left is not. Now though, it’s like the the far right has been forgotten, it’s a spectre conjured up only for its utility for slandering the left. I guess this is probably because Trump is viewed as an aberration, and one which was dealt with in 2020 when the system worked and people realised he wasn’t fit to be president. The libs cannot imagine that Trump could be re-elected, nor can they imagine that the issues run much deeper, just as they couldn’t in 2016. So if the far right no longer exists, it’s only natural that they should fall back into their default focus on demonising the left.
