I get visions of HAL or that Simpsons Halloween special with the sentient house.
Totally, kinda hope the majority of American voters agree this year.
I’ve also noticed that for some communities, such as the conservative community, the posts get downvoted heaps because they are as accessible as any community. On Reddit I just wouldn’t have seen their posts. This potentially makes it unwelcome for people of particular ideologies. (Possibly a self governing trait of the wider community)
No such thing as a fish promotes Babbel, they have a code thingee too to get some percent off the first year.
I mean, in this day and age why isn’t [insert what I know to be true] accepted by [everyone who I perceive to be wrong]. Hegel leads to another Russian smart man who argues a bunch of it might be due to this idea of perezhivanie; how we make sense of what is happening (particularly dramatic events) through our cognition, our emotions and filtered through our needs.
How we make sense of stuff leads to how we behave/believe. This is impacted by our social environment, how we are brought up, our experiences, and our reasoning of those experiences.
It’s why it is argued that information alone will never change someone’s mind about something, it needs to be attached to an emotion and an experience to unpack.
Is there somewhere online where you can have an “open discussion”? I’ve been struck a few times by how some ideas (even presented in a balanced way) just get downvoted hard.
I think using process is pretty important and urgency should be used when needed, not just to get a bunch of anti-the last regime policies through.
This is how I understand our governments movements. Everything they have done this with this time could have gone through proper process.
Our leader even said that his politicians were uninterested in hearing what experts in the fields think or what the longer term issues might be from the decisions.
Probably not, I was curious. It’s a pretty petty thing to be annoyed about.
The internet is full of people that may like to share some idiosyncrasies for the entertainment. These things are unique and at the end of the day is truly unimportant.
Except I’m right and that person that has no divider at all is possibly on watch lists.
What’s the percent chance that AI causes advancements and prosperity?
This is an interesting take, I don’t often have several course meals and maybe the intricacies of proper dining are not going to be passed on to future generations. Peon status affirmed.
Sadly it feels (unsure about factual numbers) that NZ is heading to similar styles as the US in terms of politics.
Two elections ago our slightly right of centre main party used popularist Trump/MAGA style campaigning and got slammed for it.
However the latest govt has bypassed a bunch of good process (using urgency) to just repeel a bunch of stuff the previous govt put in place.
I find with my partner debates are a huge amount of compromise like your cutlery drawer. For example I wanted two kids, she wanted four, we compromised and had four.
I love hearing about “other” (from the perspective of my own growing up) ways of eating food. We have chopsticks and use them infrequently so they are in the “everything else” drawer.
I’m glad someone else is outraged as I was, enough to make a shit post about it on the internet anyway.
I’m taking this as obviously the correct answer if the fancy silverware manufacturer recommends that order.
I take it that thinking about organising my utensil drawer means I have too much free time? But hey I like to think about things.
Bonus points, you just use the utensil you pull out. Buttering bread and get a spoon, doable. Go for a soup spoon and end up with a fork, hard mode activated.
Where did you land on the dishwasher debate, utensils up or down in the cutlery basket? Our friends went with one of those top tray dishwashers to avoid that debate.
I think these things are a matter of personal preference but only really strikes me when I go to get something out when I’m not at home. (At home you can only open the drawer halfway to grab something.)
These are an essential piece of beach/holiday gear to fix your jandals(flipflops or thongs in Australia)with.
