well I’ve never seen an Ammendment happen in my lifetime so obviously it doesn’t happen
The 27th Amendment was ratified in 1992

This is the wrong approach.
People are having too many kids!
Heterosexuality is the problem. We need to tear sexuality and gender down.
I think generally anything that is considered an attempted <whatever>, the judicial system takes into account the intent of the person who is being accused. If the intent was to assassinate Trump, and the person had everything they needed to do it, and would have done it if they had not been stopped, then a real attempt was made.
Right, I think that this is really the only thing that comes close to an apology speaks for itself and the type of person Trump is. Every success is because of him and every failure is because of someone else.
Had to look this one up, Trump did issue an apology about grabbing women by the pussy, but it was probably not sincere, and only done to better himself than actually have remorse for his actions.
Did uptobox provide seed boxes for torrenting, or what was the service like?
FWIW this isn’t always true. A few months ago, I needed to add an email to my Zelle account on Chase, and had to call them. I initiated the call and they did issue a text message verification to the phone number in my account while on the phone to confirm.
Wow TIL about the use of underscore in an interactive session.
Giving her the benefit of the doubt that she isn’t a Russian agent, if she doesn’t understand how the Electoral College works, then it makes sense she doesn’t see herself as a spoiler and a waste of a vote. Clearly in the past 20ish years, she must have come across FiveThirtyEight and, so even a guess of 538 would be somewhat reasonable. 600 just shows lack of reasoning skills and/or knowledge of how the electoral college is made up.
Also this bit from The Simpsons
I assume that since the deadline has past for some states, Vance has to be on the ballot, even if he drops out. Trump has to carry him to term (pun intended). For example, RFK Jr. dropped out, but will still be on the ballot.
If these terrible people are elected and do not take the oath of office, then presumably the 25th amendment takes effect, and a new VP is appointed by the president, or the VP elect ascends to President if the presidency is vacant.
On the wayback machine, for 2001-09-12, they have this:
In light of recent events, The Onion is not publishing new material this week.
The Onion will return Sept. 26, though The Onion A.V. Club is new. Features include interviews with Barbara Ehrenreich, George P. Pelecanos, and Paul Collins. Click here to enter.
Had to look it up, here’s the link: https://theonion.com/issue-37-34-the-september-11th-issue-1828969352/
Also “The Scary Door”, a twilight zone type show within the universe of Futurama.
Don’t worry, Putin is his guarantor for the loan.
“Winning the battle is worth losing the war”
(Trump, The Art of the Deal, pp. 179-181)
If I told my boss I have concepts of a plan during an important call with clients, I’d be fired. The fact he said this thinking it would absolve him of having to actually outline actual policy shows how empty the campaign is on anything of substance.
I have great hopes for this meme and hope it is as influential as “binders of women” in showing the absurd thinking behind the most important job in the world.
Trump has been the wildcard and basically gone against every norm for someone running for office. In 2016 that was more unexpected and the electorate had a clear anti-establishment candidate they could get behind (even though he lost the popular vote).
I think the trick has worn off and we now know how to deal with his antics, plus he’s aged and less coherent. Also he was the establishment for 4 years, and can’t be the wildcard candidate he once was.
I think Vivek Ramaswamy was trying this playbook during the Republican primaries but failed to account for the cult of Trump and the racism in the party. Maybe it would have worked against someone who wasn’t a former president or if Trump was sent to prison sooner.
This is kinda the plot of a Black Mirror episode, Striking Vipers.
2006 was only 4 years ago, right? RIGHT?
Still though, the average age in the US is 38 so for most people, there was an amendment ratified during their lifetime.
Speaking for me personally, I would consider anything that happened in my parents generation to be a recent collective memory, at least until I get to the age my parents were when they had me. Sure I wasn’t alive during the moon landing or JFK assassination, but they’re still pretty recent events in the grand scheme of US history.
