Wow… this sounds eerily much like Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You. I’m enjoying that tremendously so maybe it would be worth having a look.
Been reading ホリミヤ (Horimiya) for the first time, just finished volume 2. I haven’t seen the anime, enjoying the ride tremendously so far, especially chapter 13.
Staying up-to-date on 【推しの子】 (Oshi no Ko). Feels like this arc is ending big. Likewise with イジらないで、長瀞さん (Nagatoro).
Can’t wait for the release of スーパーの裏でヤニ吸うふたり (Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You) 3 on next Tuesday. This is currently the manga for me.
Edit: now that I remember, while looking at Jinushi’s other works, I came across this Twitter oneshot called 死なぬ始末に幸来たらん, “a story about a JK knocking off serious misery from an immortal janitor”. Absolutely no idea what the hell that was, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. Big middle-finger energy right from the title drop.
Yeah, this is almost an alarming amount of progress. Reiwa energy finally seeping in?
There’s quite a bit of ground to cover before we reach the (元)高木 series though.
I’m reading 風の谷のナウシカ (Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind) natively, six months after restarting my Japanese studies.
I haven’t read it in English before so I was stunned at how great the artwork is. It’s quite clear Miyazaki’s style is what Ghibli became known for, but here it’s 100% Miyazaki himself.
Tons of absurdly detailed planes, bugs and flora. The Japanese 7 volume set is close to A4 in size, which feels much better than usual manga volumes, if only because there are far more panels per page.
Most definitely. Zelda TotK is the late-in-lifetime masterpiece — we are ready for the next generation.
One problem Nintendo faces here is that last time they had Nvidia Tegra, a chip that didn’t really find any other use at scale so Nintendo could source it for pennies. AMD owns the console grade SoC market, and won’t be selling Ryzen 8000 series for cheap — maybe Nintendo could again source something from the previous generation to keep the BOM down?
