They recently announced they’re working on support for hardware from other manufacturers:

Until China starts openly threatening canada’s sovreignty, they will be a better friend than the US.
This will last until interference becomes so egregious and corrosive that it’s impossible to ignore.
The US government has been meeting with Canadian seperatists and that is already impossible to ignore. Is Chinese interference going to be more profound than that?
the CCP is directing espionage and foreign interference operations throughout western democracies, and Canada is a particular target
The US government has been spying on it’s allies for decades. At least china doesn’t pretend to be our friend while they do it.
“the Party’s weapon that it uses to expand control and influence without force.”
Sounds preferable to open threats of military invasion.

The size of the universe means that the chances of other life existing in it is extremely high. But it also means that the chances of us ever knowing about them is astronomically low. Plus, everything we know about physics indicates that FTL travel is not possible.

The “powerful Israeli group” made a complaint according to the article, they didn’t “force” anything. And apparently it was a valid complaint.
It doesn’t seem ethical for a museum to reject valid complaints from certain people because you don’t like the government of the country they’re from.

The name “Palestine” for the region has been in use for over 1000 years.
But from this article this is relating to:
Information boards in the museum’s ancient Middle East galleries, covering the period from 1500BC to 1700BC.
The change doesn’t seem unreasonable to me. It wouldn’t make sense to refer to Ancient Rome as “Italy” or Ancient Persia as “Iran” either.

I have no idea. The only article I’ve seen claiming it so far is from a media outlet with about the same amount of credibility as a monkey with a typewriter.

presstv.ir has some of the worst ratings I’ve ever seen on mediabiasfactcheck:
Questionable Reasoning: Propaganda, Conspiracy, Poor Sourcing, Fake News, Antisemitism
Bias Rating: RIGHT
MBFC’s Country Freedom Rank:TOTAL OPPRESSION
Factual Reporting: LOW

I don’t see the US effecting any regime change in Iran without a conventional boots on the ground style war. The US public public probably don’t have any appetite for that and even if they did, it would be liable to end up with something arguably worse like Iraq, and with a very high death toll.
I think Trump is mostly just threatening them for their oil like he did to Venezuela.

Maybe next he can tell us all about the significance of executing people for the “crime” of being gay.

I’ve considered myself left wing all my life but I find the discourse around israel from the left lately quite horrifying. And to be clear I detest the current government of israel.
Anyone who supports a two state solution is a “zionist” by definition, but the word has been turned into a slur by people who don’t even know what it means.
Many seem to have convinced themselves that ethnic cleansing is OK as long as it’s “their side” doing it.
Its a depressing situation.

Great to hear the opinion of a guy who’s human rights violations include:
Personally none of these align with my values, nor does his desire for a “curse upon the Jews” as the houthi’s slogan claims in the background of the headline photo.
And the houthis are incredibly unpopular with Yemenis:
A survey conducted in 2024 by the Sanaa Center for Strategic Studies found that only 8% of Yemenis in Houthi-controlled areas had a positive view of the Houthi movement, compared to 3% in both government-controlled areas and contested areas.
Well, his domestic policies seemed decent if not overambitious and I really disliked the Tories. I’d lived under their government all my adult life and I was ready for anything else.
And back then I was one of many people who thought Corbyn was being unfairly treated by his own party and a lot of the media. I thought, why won’t they just give the guy a chance instead of undermining him all the time? I felt like, it’s less that he’s bad organiser and more that his party won’t let him organise them.
In hindsight I would say that he probably did get a lot of undeserved criticism and misrepresentation in the media and that made me more sympathetic to him at the time.
I was a younger and more naïve person back then.
I voted for Corbyn twice but my opinion of him has changed a lot since then. To be in any kind of leadership position you have to have some level of organisational and decision making ability and he doesn’t have those at all. If he’d won the election and become PM I think it would have been an embarrassing shit show like this party he’s founded.

I pointed out that many of the banned comments were grossly offensive like “kill yourself” and someone went into my comment history to prove that I’m a “zionazi”. It was a comment where I asked someone for an example of how the state of israel treats its Arab population as second class citizens.
The irony of these people is that they seem ideologically very similar to fascists like Ben Gvir and Smotrich. The only difference is which ethnicity they target for their hatred and ethnic cleansing goals.

Oh hey it’s me 😄
They banned me shortly after that but I wasn’t told why. I like the idea of Lemmy but there’s a lot of nutty people in here and it puts me off.

OK so israel is an “Ethnostate” that treats Arabs as second class citizens but you can’t tell me why? You can’t tell me a single law that makes it an Ethnostate? It comes across as a bit disingenous to me.
Presumably you already watched these videos yourself? So if the answer is there you must already know it, so why can’t you tell me the answer?
I am respecting your time by talking to you instead of deflecting you to a stream of videos, I would hope you reciprocate that…
Edit (again, sorry): I also find YouTube to be an extremely poor source of information, as someone who values reliable sources. Which is why I linked a Wikipedia article. Wikipedia has sources you can follow and verify.

It would be as easy as just linking me to an Israeli law that specifies Israeli Arabs should be treated differently to Jewish israelis.
Here, I’ll do one for you, as an example. Although this law seems to be one Israeli Arabs appreciate: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exemption_from_military_service_in_Israel
Edit: would be interesting to know how other ethnic minorities fit into this as well. Are Israeli Druze also second class citizens or are they apart of the oppressor class?
Iran is already treating them like valid military targets though.
