I can’t figure out the objection to this either. I see it as a huge step forward for tinkering and tinkerers.

The sugar issue took decades to get us here and will take decades to get us out. It’s not an overnight cause and effect. Meanwhile, my doctor thinks ozempic should be in the drinking water (tongue in cheek of course) because of the good it would do to society with immediate results.
you’re lazy and should just exercise more / control your diet.
I think they’re referring to payot or sidelocks that Hasidic Jews often have.
I live on this street. Honestly, it gets more foot traffic already than much of the town. There’s a school and many of the kids walk home. Which is rare in Boise. Unfortunately, the highway district has turned the street into a stroad and much of the day has a ton of car traffic at decent speeds.
But I am not buying the idea that they’re promoting foot traffic and busses so much as working with the three new(ish) businesses on the street to promote gentrification.
You are absolutely right. I couldn’t get the article to load and found another one. I’m totally wrong.
And that’s where things usually break down. Where nothing of reasonable consequence will happen to an officer/murderer. The fact that this part is news. When a judge rules against a police officer’s conduct when blatantly in the wrong (and that happens all the goddamn time)… Well that just speaks volumes.
She was probably a bit overzealous I’m thinking, yeah. But that is a thankless job with low pay and little success. I give social workers a ton of latitude. I’m glad you stayed calm in the face of things.
Oh yeah, I totally get the lifestyle. Done enough overloading to really appreciate the lifestyle. But I’m trying to explain things from their point of view. Even if now, you are in control and everything is going according to your plans, they see trouble in months if not years when those plans abruptly change. They know how most people got from point A to point B and are now sleeping in shelters or dark corners of “civilization”.
Living in an SUV is often the first step to really needing their help. Housing insecurity is a quick road to pretty rough living. If you are in their system, in their eyes, they can actually act quickly and help you when the likely next step happens. Not being in the system is pretty slow to get help in most places.
That is not a bet I would make.
You’re right. I guess it just feels like painting a bursting dam to me. And the shootings are weighing heavier on me. I’m glad we’re doing something positive. It’s just hard to appreciate when my mental image of a school is fear and tragedy. It’s probably a me thing
Please don’t take my comment as a light-hearted jab at the idea of school shooters. But rather, it’s a scathing commentary on fixing something like parking lots when children are dying. Maybe I didn’t do a good job of it but that was my intent.
Plus the kids will have trees to use as cover from shooters. I guess to avoid the packin’ heat Island effect?
Is that true? Interesting. I am sure the dead are enjoying all of their human rights to the fullest.
I am interested in your ideas and wish to subscribe to your newsletter.
Obviously we movie goers aren’t making the kinds of movies we want to see. We need to be the change and be the movie makers which we have no experience, skill or possibility of being. It’s so simple that it’s fucking crazy.
The police just see themselves not as exploited protectors of capital but rather temporarily embarrassed felons.
It’s rarely tonic even, almost always just soda.
