In the same way that doing admin for Auschwitz is not taking offensive action, sure…

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Say we succeed in bringing down Capitalism. Then what?
2·1 个月前Socialism. True economic and political democracy, that isn’t managed by capitalists, landlords, or other centralised powerful groups, and where elections are not won by money.
It really is as simple as that. These comments are baffling. We can’t have Norway or Switzerland globally, that is possible only by continuing to rely on the poverty of the global south.
Feel free to try and convince me otherwise but, games shouldn’t be accessing your kernel at all. That’s a major security issue. Also part of the reason why Linux has complete separation between kernel and OS

7·2 个月前Would highly recommend RetroArch as an all in one emulator for most consoles. It removes so much of the pain of emulation.

6·2 个月前Deciding that the best solution to encroaching government power is more capitalist corruption of existing state institutions, and investing in Palantir, a tool that literally assists governments in controlling their populaces via soft power, is absolutely demented.
The solution to all of these problems is more democracy, not less. Create an actual system that puts power in the hands of the people, because this ain’t it, and it never was.
I stated “voters”, not “Americans”. I specifically used those words, because I didn’t care to calculate the non-voters in to the equation at the time.
I miscalculated, whoopsie

I love the sounds of this, but unfortunately it seems like the app is currently undergoing maintenance, and I want to avoid using Facebook
263 million Americans decided they didn’t care enough to vote against a convicted sexual abuser running their country…
Yes that’s why I was very careful to say “voters” and not "Americans.
If you’re considering all members of the population, then the % of Germans who voted for the Nazis was closer to 20%.
America is an absolute embarrassment.
See they are actually 2 very different situations, because only 30% of German voters voted for the Nazis, whereas 50% of America voters voluntarily got off their arses to cast a vote for Trump (i.e. vote for a sexual abuser, and a platform of division and hatred) …

BuyFromEU@feddit.org•Name the best US to EU switch you have made so farEnglish
2·2 个月前It isn’t, but it is definitely the best switch if you have privacy in mind. A lot of other options have various areas they are lacking in. Signal is a real gold standard of privacy and security, and open-source, so location matters much less.
I try to be, I used to be very very introverted, and now I seem to be trying to make up for that 😅
As for obscure animals, I can only really think of 2: the star nosed mole, and the Amazon River Dolphin, that they kinda only just rediscovered, after having not seen them for decades. Both very cool, but unfortunately I am more of a fan of megafauna like elephants and moose, which aren much less obscure for obvious reasons. I am just very impressed with any animal that can essentially fight a car without much effort.
What is your most obscure interest that you have, would you say? For me I would go with the historical time period of the Spring of Nations. One of my favourite points of history, mostly because of how much of an effect it would go on to have on our political systems to this day

Personally my opposition is mostly in the form of drawing art, writing plotlines, recording voicelines, etc. I am not opposed to AI being used in certain aspects of game development.

Fuck Cars@lemmy.world•These are the 10 most cyclist-friendly cities in the worldEnglish
2·2 个月前I literally have no idea how any city on planet earth could be more cyclist-friendly than Amsterdam. They are treated with more respect than cars and pedestrians.

I would argue facilitating somebody else’s offensive action, is an offensive action. If I encourage my friend to punch somebody else, I have participated in the attack, and therefore have committed an offensive action. Debating over culpability here is ridiculous, the man who loads the bombs is just as culpable as the man who drops them.
