Her arrest and detainment by ICE is inevitable; she is brown and Somali, and it doesn’t matter that she’s a US citizen and a sitting member of Congress, Trump’s SS will eventually arrest her once he feels it’s the right time. That will be a breaking point in this whole affair; if the people of this country allow the President to arrest his political enemies just for being his enemies, we are truly lost. If we allow that act to stand, it will have a domino effect as then he will feel emboldened to arrest any political enemy, no matter their race or citizenship or political party.

Good for him. Actors who want to embrace their character and the world they are portrayed in shouldn’t feel pressured to consume the source material, whether that’s a video game series or a book, especially when the show or movie could wildly diverge from the source.

Dude is sundowning like there’s no tomorrow. 25th please?

I know it’s ironic, but buy a Pixel for your next phone(1) and use GrapheneOS. It sandboxes all of the Google stuff so it can’t track you across the device, only within the sandboxed app or service itself. Chances are all of your financial apps will still work (mine did including Paypal, the pickiest by far) and the only downside I experienced was less than ideal keyboard error correction and complicated voice-to-text setup (required a third party voice recog service since Google’s didn’t exist in GrapheneOS).
(1) Don’t buy it new, get one from Swappa or the equivalent trusted used phone marketplace in your country.

Lemmy has plenty of shitty moderation too
Oh absolutely. Not long after I created my account, I saw an obvious spam post on All, I downvoted it and went about my day. Turns out I was banned from that community because of that downvote. I asked why and was told that because I downvoted a post in a community I wasn’t subbed to, I was banned for “brigading” even though it was a spam post. I wonder if I had upvoted despite not being a community member if I would have been banned?
More recently, I reported a comment for a common ableist slur (against someone else, not me), and the reply to the report was “doesn’t break the community rules and also we agree with the guy who said it”. I looked up their community rules and they specifically say all opinions are welcome and not to attack or harass others, which I would presume calling someone the “R” word for having an opinion would violate both tenets of that rule set. Nope, they support garbage like that despite what their rules say, so I told them to please ban me.

It’s not a purity test, it’s boycotting an admitted Nazi friendly organization. When Framework chose to embrace, financially support, and then when called out on it, specifically state that the Nazis are welcome in their big tent, that tent became a Nazi tent. That’s not a tent me or many others want to be in, because that makes the Nazis feel welcome and free to attack anyone else in the tent with no repercussions and with the full, spoken support of Framework.
Fuck that, and fuck you if you don’t like it.

Thank you for getting the idiom right. To all of the folks who think you can’t have your cake and eat it too, you most certainly can. You have to “have” it before you can “eat” it. But you most definitely can’t eat your cake and then still have it, which is the meaning of the idiom and the correct way to say it.

My favorite insult directed towards slack-jawed yokels will forever be “Ya buncha hodunk podunk well-then-there motherfuckers!” Delivered as only Billy Zane could in his woefully underrated role in Tales From The Crypt: Demon Knight.

There is some overlap among those, particularly 2-4 and 3-4.
Also, I’ve read a lot of comments from people for whom the Steam Deck was their first experience with Linux and they are overwhelmingly positive. I can see this new device having the same effect.

Given Mozilla going all in on “AI”, I wouldn’t touch this at any price. If I want a company to slurp up all of my email contents to feed their LLM I’ll just use Google (and to be clear, I don’t but I’m damn sure not going to pay someone to do it).
Interesting, Super Castlevania is a 16-bit game, and in RotN Miriam moves much more fluidly and easily than Belmont in SC.
Are you sure you aren’t confusing Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night with Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon? The former is as fluid as SotN, if not more so. The latter is meant to emulate the stiff movement of the original 8-bit Castlevania games.

Obviously you and I have polar opposite definitions of “doing good”.

The dude gave a fucking golden statue to Trump. He doesn’t give a shit about other gays, he got his billions and bent the knee. Fuck him and fuck apple.
Yep, Haven is supernatural while the book is not. It’s more about using the mystery of the book to create a whole different (but really intriguing and King-like) world. They are both good in their own way.
For a good murder mystery without the horror try The Colorado Kid. Then watch the show Haven that is loosely based on it.
It isn’t for me, no. It gets stuck at the Loading screen overlay in the main menu. If I turn off WiFi I can play but only from a new save, I can’t play any existing saves. The Epic integration is obviously broken.
