  • I barely have one, and really don’t have much of an idea what yours is or why there’s an argument here! Clearly and simply my ass. People are so damn angry and afraid right now, across the world. The closest thing I have to a “stance” here is that things are really dang bad in the US right now and it sucks to see our bullshit pushing/dragging the rest of the world into fascism along with us. Boycotting a band who’s music and ideals you both enjoy because of what country they’re from is right up there with changing your snack food names as far as self owns go, that shouldn’t even be on the table. Anywhere near the table! A flag waving, anthem singing sense of national pride is not a good thing. It is a weapon every state uses against its people. The other guy’s “I guess we’ll make an exception for mackelmore this time” reminded me way too much of the shit we were hearing here 20 years back about any countries that didn’t want to come party in Iraq with us, and it’s like. Fuck, not again, why can’t we learn, please let someone do better

The “probable result” I’m so damn frustrated by is continuing to emulate our behavior as a response to our behavior and ending up with concentration camps of your own in another 20 years. People are people, nations are bullshit, I don’t have any answers and it’s past my bedtime. Hold hands with anyone you can and try to build a better world

The way hollywood is going these days it just might be! :D

But why would a table think about those things? I sure don’t. It’d probably be more into like, bearing loads. I bet it likes when lots of people put full plates around its edge and doesn’t when you stand on the middle to change a light bulb

Me I’m more into alternative energy schemes

  • The strong “we” there is the nationalism I was warning against again. Macklemore, like most people, is an individual. I’m glad you’re able to judge him on his own merits. I can’t give exact numbers, but can guarantee most Americans have no interest in threatening you. That’s being done by maybe a few thousand people who are threatening the rest of us too. I’m old, remember “Freedom Fries” all too well, and just don’t like watching history repeat itself yet again. This was not meant as a judgment but a warning, and I sincerely hope you can avoid the same pitfalls that made “us” “your” enemy in the first place. Good luck up there.

  • Your reliance on tertiary sources is probably why you’re so ignorant of the simple, direct impact each action we take can have. I treasure direct input so much more and respect any of it anyone is willing to provide me. My perspective is informed by time spent in squats and camps and prisons. I know all too well what happens when I react to each injustice versus attempting transcendence, and feel I have a greater impact this way than I ever did resenting percieved defeats and pursuing empty victories. Go ahead and shoot a border patrol agent or whatever gets you hard. I’ll keep putting water in the desert.

  • Idealism is perhaps the trait I am most proud of, and what I genuinely believe has the best chance of leading us to a brighter tomorrow. ‘Victories of pacifism’ is not a term I am familiar with, and I am neither going to read all those links or start citing bhagavad gita at you. I would love to continue exchanging ideas directly, but am realizing there is a hostile and well-entrenched audience here impeding that process. A sense of unity predates, has endured, and will outlast every empire. Acceptance of the tools of your oppressors as all-powerful and inevitable is perhaps the most fundamental defeat there is. Whatever is built with them must crumble like all that came before. Feel free to DM me.
