They are good times indeed… Good times…
They are good times indeed… Good times…
Caught by the Jaffa’s
I have converted over to Linux for a huge portion of my work flow but there is still the 20% I either can’t efficiently replicate or there is just not the software I need.
Where possible I choose to work outside of Microsoft, Google and Apple but to keep a roof over one’s head, I must endure too.
Yes… Melted on anything…
Literally have not been back since I decided to leave before the blackout.
Considering incised to spen hours a day s rolling that place, I haven’t missed it and just moved on. 12years or more I was a regular contributor and viewer and quit cold turkey style :)
I technically started with Steam Deck and finally took the plunge of partitioning my daily driver to install Linux Mint back a few weeks ago.
No regrets…
I’m a developer (web app predominantly ) and find I can use it for about 80% - 85% of my daily workflow. Things I miss and can’t substitute are mainly around image editing / vector editing where GIMP and InkScape are just not there for the way I work.
Loving my time with it and would highly recommend anyone on the fence take the dive and give Mint a go. It’s incredibly familiar the moment you boot it :)
The older I get, the more I fucking hate obnoxiously loud cars… It was like a switch that went off in my head when I hit the 35-40yrs old mark.
Pumping base tunes from said vehicle is additional hate.
I have never understood people’s lack of ability to just move on.
Don’t like something, like seriously just move on, don’t like a post / comment, move on rinse and repeat.
You’re not going to like everything and you’re not going to agree with everyone, and you know what… That’s alright, it’s being human !
That a Welsh username by chance?
And yea, thoroughly depressing… I find the situation similar to the old micro transaction / shit game port situation where the masses couldn’t care less and the small minority rebel and have little to no effect.
Sadly those that care about these things are generally grossly outweighed by those that couldn’t give a toss. I haven’t been back to Reddit for 4-5 weeks now and as a very early Reddit adopter I thought the break would be harder than what it has been. I have mentioned in a few posts here that the most surprisong thing to me is how often I was being served subtle ads guised in the form of content on Reddit. In 4 weeks or more I don’t think I have seen a brand as such mentioned on Lemmy yet with Reddit it was legit every dozen posts. I knew this went on, but it took a week or so on Lemmy for me to realise the actual extent of it…
Good riddance to the place, Lemmy feels like the early doors of the internet and I’m quite comfortable here :)
Since moving to Lemmy a few weeks ago I genuinely didn’t realise just how many ads I was being served via Reddit which weren’t guised as actual paid ads. I legit can say after weeks of trawling Lemmy, I don’t think I have seen a single brand or image of a brand being posted anywhere.
On Reddit it was every few posts…
I haven’t been back now for at least 4 weeks and at this point, no longer miss it. Between Lemmy, Chan and couple of other sites I get news from, the void of no Reddit has been filled.
Really enjoying my time with Lemmy… It reminds me of early web :) I hope it doesn’t change!
Glad I made the switch back to FireFox a year or two ago. As a Dev, I was entrenched in Chrome and it wasn’t an easy move but with the path Google are currently treading around ad serving, blocking the ad blocks etc. I feel I made the right choice…
