I heard on a podcast that one of the architects of the Holocaust was aghast when visiting the South in the US years earlier, because of the illegality of the lynchings there, and it being widely accepted anyway.

I never used Twitter so I can’t say if Mastodon is better or worse, but I don’t like Mastodon. The lack of an algorithm (other than “most recent”) makes it very hard to use for me, since seeing people who either don’t post a lot or who live in different time zones becomes a chore.

In the EU labels have to have a standard measure, either 100 ml (for things normally handled by volume), or 100 g (for things normally handled by weight).

They can also have a serving size, which is not standardized as far as I know (some cereal has serving size of 30 g, some 40 g, and so on).

I feel like China is probably better equiped to make necessary changes to deal with decreasing population better than most other countries.

You don’t have to say that you’re vegan, but it can simplify things when they either try to suggest other non-vegan options or insist that you really, really should try the steak because this one is really good

Unfortunately it often leads to people reading the menu and pointing out everything on it that is vegan, as if you don’t know how menus work or are struggling to read the same menu that they are. I know people who do this have their heart in the right place, I just wish their head was also in the right place. 😅

I mean, if the first state was Utah, then we can hope that this is free from ideology.

I just got back from visiting my parents in Texas. I’m like 189 cm or so, and some of the hoods on those trucks came up to my chin. Madness.

The only time you need to borrow money from a bank is of you are buying a house, really. Remove the strong incentive to buy a place to live and then a credit score becomes a vague thing that only people working in finance know or care about.
