i think he described himself as a market socialist at some point. and yeah his marxism takes are the worst. its the common western problem of thinking that marx wrote good antitrust laws or something

She was pro Harris getting nominated for VP, so it checks out. At least Davis is consistent
yeah rybar is an ultranationalist. the soviet narratives that he wants to rethink are internationalism and multiculturalism
ebbok. it’s cheaper in the long run, easier to carry around (on public transport for instance), can highlight and bookmark easily
If I were to reform Russian right now I would make stress markers obligatory (in addition to improving gendering). It would make it so much easier to learn, even though maybe it’ll look a bit cluttered.
Even in high school some teachers wouldnt say anything if it wasnt written in cursive. I think it is getting sort of phased out by the younger generations.
Nobody cares how you write after school lol
Yes! Sorry, I was typing too fast
For real. I’ve had this experience recently with Cuba 1964. It is a fiction movie but still, so clear about its politics.
As other commenters have said, they do bring it up, you just don’t hear about it on western media. I’ve experienced it in former soviet, yugoslavia states.
Yooo I wrote a comment about it here like last month.
Heavenly Bodies. You play astronauts on a space station doing menial tasks, but the difficulty is that you have to control all your limbs properly to move around in zero-g. It’s tricky (has easier modes tho) but is really satisfying when you learn how to work together to fling screwdrivers around.
PSL seems to officially hold no stance on stalin or trotsky which is just…weird
this is not serious posting
It reads like he received this viewpoint from a Marx-sympathetic university course that nonetheless could not fully endorse Marxism for fear of people complaining that they’re turning people into commies
For sure. Marxism in social science 101 is viewed as this esoteric hyper-specific framework that is only about class, and besides, class isn’t real anyways because middle-class! 101 likes to focus on Marx as if no-one has ever continued his work. Alex seems to know that, since he references Angela Davis and black marxism. Though Angela Davis did support Harris when she became VP, so I guess maybe its just the radicalized nature of modern US marxism.
But saying that half the people telling you not to vote for Kamala are Russian bots is just peak radlib Tumblr/Reddit, and is disconnected from reality.
I had the same feelings about it. I feel like he is only interested in the abstract/philosophical aspects of liberalism and marxism (ideologies in general maybe), without actually applying analysis to current material conditions. His brief comment that Reps and Dems are both liberals is completely neglected in the end section.
This was the video I commented about. I really like the video and Alex’s channel in general, but I agree with GarbageShoot that the video has issues representing Marxism (that I also notice from other breadtube creators). What really solidified this thought for me was when in the end of the video he said that people who are against voting are russian bots in a serious context.

I agree. Both Dems and Reps use pseudo-socialist talking points (pro worker, anti rich) so a lot of it is already ingrained in the US psyche. It is not dissonant for them to agree with socialist arguments one day and then with republican newscasters the next day. I’ve had staunch libertarians tell me that they actually want communism more than communists.
Yeah womens centers are really hit or miss. Lesbian/gay bars are also an option if you are comfortable with it, but it is a bit difficult to make connections on the spot there. Also, sometimes orgs post more on Instagram or Facebook, so you might want to check those too.
agreed. it is definitely part of the breadtube culture of positioning oneself as radical, while not straying too far for keynesian social democracy. maybe a better title would be “unlearning neoliberal economics”, since that is what he is actually deconstructs, not capitalist economics fundamentally. for UE it is probably much less effort, since EU/UK econ schools already are much more focused on keynesian or behavioral economics than in US (he has a behavioral econ degree). for US viewership it is seen as super radical. so it is probably his econ courses just adapted to youtube
