  • It sounds like you are possibly in an ambulatory role (maybe?) with patient education. My spouse has bounced between a few different floor positions, including ICU, then went to ambulatory, and now does outpatient chemo infusion as sort of a compromise. Each move corresponded with burnout. The floor became too rough, ambulatory became too boring and bureaucratic (but learned a LOT from providers), but the outpatient infusion setting seems to strike a good balance, at least for now. She heavily considered a NP/PA route, but it’s more school, money, and you’re on salary with long hours (no overtime!). Sufficed to say, there’s probably a niche for you too!

  • John Waters. His films are transgressive, tasteless, and trashy for the purpose of being transgressive, tasteless, and trashy. You have a movie in 1970 (Multiple Maniacs) where a drag queen, Lady Divine, gets a lesbian “rosary-job” intercut with scenes of the stations of the cross. Among many other things, Divine is raped by a giant fake lobster and eventually killed by the national guard to “America the Beautiful.” It’s a massive middle finger to everything sacred; the necessary profane.

  • I like it for the nostalgia factor (my parents watched it), but there’s two things that make it particularly funny for me. First is that you absolutely know each little irksome downer that propels the episode is something that Larry David has been seething about for like 20 years. Second is that it reads, in retrospect, like a burn piece made by Larry David on how shitty of a comic Jerry actually is, especially in light of Curb.
