That was indeed the big news. Big sad news that they aren’t coming to my city this time.
And they win best documentary name for the forthcoming release: Butthole Surfers: The Hole Truth and Nothing Butt (https://metrocinema.org/event/butthole-surfers-the-hole-truth-and-nothing-butt/).

Yup. A disappointing result on all but one of the nine questions. Millions of dollars blown just show what a brain-dead populace we have.

I used to work for a startup back in 2009 that used semantic tagging and your social graph to improve results on the big three search engines. It was a pretty cool idea with the semantic tagging (type “apple” and you would get a drop down to select apple the fruit, Apple the tech brand, Apple the record label, etc.) and then your search results were filtered to what you were looking for. They pivoted and added your Facebook network so others using the system that you knew would prioritize results with the assumption that if you were searching for something that someone you knew had already searched for, it was likely that their findings were relevant. Yes, a ball of privacy issues to be sure. Always anonymous, and you could opt out of sensitive searches being included, etc. But, it did provide some means of social proof in your search results. Short lived job for me as funding ended and I moved on to create my own company.

Yes, much safer to pay a premium to give it to the US-based billionaires that we can completely trust. /s

Awful news. My condolences to the families of those lost.

God dammit!. I chose Deezer over Tidal when getting away from Spotify. Thanks for info. Back to the drawing board.

Dr Vitamix at your service!

Great book!

I just received and started Sleeping Beauties by David Byrne. Not too far into it, but it looks intriguing.
The Shock Doctrine by Nami Klein - An interesting read so far. Some detail on history that I vaguely remember or heard about as a child. While it’s good, it’s more on the pile of how screwed we are socially, politically, and economically so some days I avoid it if it’s too heavy.
On Food and Cooking - Harold McGee - Pretty much the bible of cooking. It’s been a long slow read for me over the last 18 months when I’m not sure what else I want to read.
Searches: Selfhood in the Digital Age - Vauhini Vara - A reflection on the impact of tech on modern life.

If a Canadian is still choosing to vacation in the US, especially long-term, I’m not sure they fall under what I would call ‘decent’.
Ukraine’s actions have little to do with what that egomaniacal psychopath is going to do. He’ll do whatever gets him more money or gains him favour in the billionaire club. What you see him state publicly is simple theatre.
Who gives a fuck about Elon’s opinion? Stop giving that asshole attention.

The rest of that site is very cool. Great data visualizations.
The best time to panic was 20 years ago. The next best time to panic is now.

I’m calling bullshit. I live here. We have plenty of vegetables, salads, and vegetarian food around the province. Even in our smaller shithole, redneck, hellhole towns. There’s more than enough to criticize about this province without making shit up.

Good riddance. One less grifter grifting.
I don’t need them to build another Shopify or some bullshit. Build a payment processor that doesn’t cost so much to use. Make it platform agnostic. You don’t help small businesses by kneecaping other small businesses (web developers).
