One of the very very best decisions in my recent life was reducing alcohol to every other month, and then very little of it. I just don’t want to do it anymore, you know? I used to drink a lot and couldn’t have imagined it, but alcohol fucks you up in so many ways, and life is just that much better without it.

I believe that there’s always luck involved to some extent. You have a very valid point, though, if a game is THAT good, at some point success becomes the only plausible outcome. So definitely not a hill I would die on.

I’m not sure how they started, but Brotato came from a very small studio, and rose up to top-played on Steam Deck and some other charts. It made their creators a lot of money, because they were lucky, sure, but also because they made a very good game and had a platform to sell it from.
As far as I know, Valve’s monetisation scheme for developers is also quite fair. I might be one of those fanboys, but I think they deserve it to some extent. There’s much worse players out there, and with the money Valve is making and the market share they have now, they could absolutely be one of the bad ones and not care.

I’m all for “Don’t explain with malice what you can explain with stupidity.” Not here though.

And in general, being kind to myself. I know I’m my biggest critic, no-one knows my flaws as well as I do. Also, I don’t HAVE to meditate, work out, or not drink alcohol all the time. I’m gonna be ok if I skip one of my three weekly workouts because I’m tired. I’m gonna be ok if I have a few beers every other month with friends.

Nebula is awesome. I took a gamble with them and bought lifetime during their second round two years ago and never regretted it. It has only been getting better, here’s to hope that they keep direction.

I blocked all those on the router-side for a while. Suddenly I couldn’t take calls on WhatsApp anymore. Makes you wonder, dunnit?
I also only have one friend left who I can’t get to move to Signal. Motherfucker is gonna get an ultimatum from me soon, I’m tired of Meta and their shit.

It’s not the first time. One of the latest rounds brought me here :)

Hi! We joined on the same day for the same reason :D
Edit: Nevermind, the little number next to my account name says I’m wrong. Apparently I have trouble reading a calendar.

Not the OP you asked, but realisticly, your single best option is not giving any data. Use settings to prevent cross-site tracking in your browser where available, but really just post as little information as possible. The less you reveal, the less they will know.
A lot of the world server-wise is running on Linux already anyway, Microsoft’s own servers included. For the end user I’d argue it is not about stability but rather UX mostly. I’m not completely tech illiterate, but I prefer something that “just works” without too much fiddling, and Linux definitely isn’t that currently.
On the other hand, a knowledgeable IT department can provide that for the enduser, you just need the knowledgeable people in your IT department and the will (budget) to move away from the current environment, then everything works just fine. But time will tell.
