True, been using mozilla for while and won’t be stopping anytime. I do actually get excited with every release and read the changelogs to see what’s new. Love the profiles, vertical tabs and the redesign on ios. The headline was just really funny to me with everything going on right now.

unpopular opinion: but i’m taking this over (potentially) delayed security patches and it’s hardening breaking stuff. if they ship the kill switch i have enough peace of mind until servo is stable.

i think if you upload it normally through the lemmy interface it also converts the image.

Tauri has servo support in development. https://servo.org/blog/2024/01/19/embedding-update/ i would assume support has gotten only better since this post was created.

I unironically use https://servo.org/ from time to time for light surfing like researching something on wikipedia.

It breaks on most modern websites especially SPAs of course its like super alpha but its heading in the right direction its great to have a alternative showing up in times like this.

Still have Firefox with all AI disabled for heavy usage and stuff like banking.

Check out Debian as well! (or lmde) I have recently switched from Arch to Debian (with sway) to have some more stability. Love it so far, I don’t bother about configs or having by dependencies anymore and can just focus on actually doing some work. Arch has a really active community though with a big repository (which quality varies a lot) and nice documentation.

I was over the switch 2 when i saw the the bare switch OS only had minor changes. Consoles are PCs without choice, but that is actually fine by me if they provide a fun experience not only in but outside of games as well.

It’s just the app…. you need to use an app to interact with almost all services these days. Maybe you are referring to having choice to be unintuitive? Sure it’s more work and you have to think about what fits most your needs but i think it’s a net benefit to be even have to choice.
