Canada@lemmy.ca•What tension between the U.S. and Venezuela could mean for Canada
10·4 days agoNot sure why government officials in Canada aren’t terrified of sitting in a US prison camp after an invasion. The only way Canada at this point is able to build their nuclear arsenal without invasion is asking UK or France for protection while they procure what is necessary, this will be a threat of WW3. This Venezuelan invasion should also be a warning to every Canadian to pull out their investments from S&P500, protest the government to redirect investments of CPP and other public investments, stop using unethical American services like (Linkedin, Instagram, Facebook, Google, Paypal, Mastercard, etc. etc.), and lastly establish a Swiss style citizen militia. Good luck Canada, I’m really rooting for you but at this rate you’re still fucked.

Canada@lemmy.ca•Carney names ex-Blackrock executive as new US ambassador
65·15 days agoWhat do you know, I was severely downvoted for pointing this out in a post the other day. The Canadian boycott is failing, if not more likely it’s already officially failed. American private equity has fully bought Canada. Canadian’s are still investing en-masse into the S&P500 and are in love with American services like social media, tech devices, digital infrastructure, etc. Canadians have no problem with Carney’s conflict of interest as Brookfield is the fourth biggest company in Canada by market cap (he has millions invested in the real estate cookie jar) and seven out of the top ten companies in Canada are banks and private equity. Canada is finished, there is no economy, and there certainly won’t ever be one at this rate.
You can be a crybaby and downvote, or you Canadians could also actually begin your boycott instead of this virtue signalling and false platitudes.

A private equity business owner just became willingly elected as prime minister of Canada. Mussolini and Hitler have been resurrected.

275·3 months agoYeah Canadians are so serious about boycotting the US, except everyone still uses Mastercard, Visa, Android, Google, AWS, Microsoft, Linkedin, Indeed, FB, IG, etc. etc. They can’t even press the free delete account button, what a great boycott! Finally after almost a year only the EU is just beginning to discuss digital sovereignty.

20·5 months agoThis company already has another scandal brewing, since 2005 they have been installing plastic engine parts, particularily the intake manifolds have been designed as a single use item to be replaced roughly every 3 years. Custom aluminum will run you $1000 for the part itself if you don’t want to keep swapping plastic, not to mention the ridiculous labour costs as well. Avoid!

[Moved to Piefed] Television@lemm.ee•I am sick of seeing the rich and powerful on my screen. Where are all the TV shows about normal people?English
2·8 months agoOh I’m well aware that it was “adapted” from a novel which was quite terribly written, they essentially tried to take from the novel which bastardized history while staying true to the real story which obviously makes no sense. Shogun is an awful fantasization of the story of Tokugawa Ieyasu, James Clavell is an idiot whose books should have stayed dead. It was a great opportunity to right wrongs and portray history correctly, yikes. Rome is another terrible TV example of fictionalizing history when there is plenty of real content to take from.

In a perfect world no one has nukes, unfortunately we don’t live in that world so the next best thing is that every nation that wants to stay sovereign has nukes.
