To be fair, I think his main goal was to show that he personally still has support from the US. This gives him an upper hand in the palace intrigue that’s going on in Ukraine right now. Ultimately, he just wants some breathing room to plan his escape when the whole thing collapses.
That’s probably what they were going for, but definitely felt kind of hamfisted to me.
Exactly, it’s shockingly blunt and honest. They don’t try to sugar coat it in any way, which was really amazing to me. Perhaps it wasn’t expect to be made public?
wonder if the propagandist who wrote the article was aware enough to realize that
Yeah that’s the one, I remember it because the other amazing bit was this
Indigenous peoples are formally involved in the governance of unceded territories across Canada, including in densely populated areas.
They just straight up admit that Canada is occupying sovereign indigenous land
I really hope these idiots don’t drag us into WW3. It’s certainly looking more likely by the day though.
Didn’t CSIS put out a report how they see people rising up against the government once they realize how fucked they are economically as one of the major risks going forward? I bet that’s what all the beefing up of military is about.
Absolutely hilarious to see how the witch hunts are fuelling brain drain to China.
Indeed, seems like the only people who want ware are the media and the government.
Weird how Russian state owned industry doesn’t have this problem.
I really enjoy doing martial arts as a way to stay fit. I find I get really bored going to the gym, but with martial arts there’s a lot of stuff to keep your mind busy and the exercise becomes mostly incidental.
look on a bright side though, we’ll have finally solved the whole global warming problem
This was an absolutely terrifying interview with Theodore Postol regarding just how littler response time Russia has in case of a nuclear strike. A decision basically has to be made under 5 minutes, which rules out any sort of a centralized response coordinated at the top. The people in charge of the weapons basically have to make a call immediately whether they end the world or not.
Exactly, and while I do think Ugledar happens to be strategically important, there is an undeniable factor of Ukraine being constrained by the need for optics. Since Ukraine is entirely dependent on the west to continue fighting, they’re conscious about them getting cold feet if they start thinking that Ukraine is a lost cause. This results in Ukraine holding every centimetre of territory to the last man, and doing stunts like Kursk. On the other hand, Russian military is free to make decisions regardless of the optics. They can give up territory, do tactical retreats, and so on. This is a huge advantage since it affords Russia far more operational freedom.
I wouldn’t expect BRICS to do sanctions myself, however undermining western sanctions will be just as impactful.
Kursk was a monumental blunder on the part of Ukraine in my opinion. It pulled a ton of resources away from the main front that was already buckling, and ultimately failed to achieve anything strategic. Now, Ukraine isn’t even able to pull out of Kursk politically because it would be an admission that the whole ploy failed. So, they’re stuck feeding troops and scarce resources into this debacle while their main front collapses.
There is a clip where he goes to visit troops after getting elected, and one of the fascists just laughs at him when he says he’s the president and the army has to do what he says. So, I think it was made clear to him who was actually running things right from the start. It’s possible that he genuinely believed his platform before the election, but given who his backers were it should’ve been obvious that they had no interest in any sort of reconciliation.
