And fire the CEO :)

And fire the CEO :)
I do what I want! Don’t tell me how to live my life! You are not even my real dad!
I have had for a bunch of years the IKEA brand of lightbulbs, which use ZigBee and maybe nowadays matter? I haven’t had to buy them recently and using ZigBee has been plenty fine for me so no need for me to change. The lightbulbs are not the best when it comes down to amount of colors, brightness and animations (HA only sees one animation which is a constant smooth change of color if the bulb has colors), but for the price they are sold, they were at least the best option back then. Maybe today there’s some other brand on a similar price category.
I was going to say, no need to punish yourself for forgetting something… But if that’s the punishment I want to be punished too.
VVVVVV did something like this, but if I remember correctly you could only change between up and down.
Locoroco from the old PSP had a really nice mechanic of turning the world to affect the direction of gravity to move the creatures. Real fun game too.
Finally, that I know of, the most recent implementation of the mechanic is in the game called Limbo which is quite nice too.

Sincerely a selfhostable service to create memes using a base image you choose from like a dropdown or something, some text, and some basic positioning could be nice, with the option to add new images on the fly. I’d definitely use it, so that I don’t upload my own photos to someone’s server.

It might just be that if there’s an OpenSource option they prefer to use and support that, no need to have a threat to use something open.
Alternatively, maybe they want to create memes with their own personal images or text that they rather not upload anywhere. The reason for why they prefer some OpenSource option, maybe something to selfhost, is irrelevant to the question by OP.

I often think of this SMBC comic. It left a deep mark for me and it came out over 13 years ago.

We are all faking it, we don’t have a clue what we are doing. Some are aware of it, some are not.

Shit, putting things in perspective is always tough… Can you give me a more specific name for the title 7 and 9 thing? Not from US but want to search and learn more about it.
And to extend on your well written comment, it doesn’t need to be even a sexual thing. Even if Epstein would have never touched any of his victims, he was a piece of shit that enabled other predators by providing access to people to abuse. They had a network of human trafficking, there’s no way to excuse that, and those that used that network knowingly and willingly are equally to be blamed, it doesn’t matter what age those people were.

So does this asshole have kids? Because if so, it would be sooo surprising if they are accepted into said private schools and get all good grades. If he has kids they should be forced to attend the public schools, see what is what in reality.
Let’s not forget all the software that was done and kinda ready for the openmoko device. There were a few distros for that alone. Some were pretty stable but the biggest issue came down always to phone call quality and connectivity. I’m completely out of the loop but back then all the chips were so closed in themselves that they were basically black boxes. A huge effort was made to try and get them to work as well as possible, with varying degrees of success. I wonder if it continues being the same nowadays.
The N900 was such an amazing device, I still have it around and the UX was the best I’ve had in a phone, Maemo was truly great and way advanced to its time. That UX with the screen sizes we have today… I keep dreaming.

We’re in the exact same boat :) waiting with the trusty old vive to see about battery life and price.
Like I wrote in answer to the other comment. I might have misunderstood due to ignorance what the capacitive tracking was, I expected something more of a touch area in the bottom of the controller as indicated in the specification section. I’ll need to look at the accessories and check the videos released. So far all I could do is check the description in steam. Anyway thanks for bringing it up, I found it weird they wouldn’t support that.
So maybe it’s ignorance on my part, but when I saw capacitive finger tracking I thought it meant as in “touch control” like you know, capacitive touch screens. Just as the deck has on the thumbsticks. But I guess making it strong enough you might be able to track the fingers at a further distance. I probably should check in the index controllers if they call it also capacitive tracking.
I’m a bit surprised about the optional straps… It feels like a mandatory thing for VR… :/
I’ve had an HTC vive for like the last 7 years. I always loved it and still use it when I can. But its limitations are very obvious and the age is starting to show. I’ve been wanting to upgrade with an index but never found the right moment and my play time has decreased considerably.
Now this one… It looks amazing! So many improvements! And at the same time a bit scary, can the streaming work well enough? I haven’t had great experience with it but have never really needed it either. That dongle looks like a must. Will the tracking be good enough without the external lighthouses? That would be a great improvement in play area for me if so. The battery seems like a risk factor too but I’m far less worried about that.
And finally the one thing that has me raising my eyebrows in confusion, what is it with the controllers? They seem okayish enough for normal gaming in the headset and OK enough for tracking them… But it seems like a regression from the index controllers with finger tracking and no need to constantly hold it grabbing onto it thanks to the straps. I wonder if the index ones would still be the best for proper VR gaming. And with the steam controller also being tracked, I’d rather use that for any other gaming.
Overall I’m excited and I might jump at the opportunity of finally upgrading the vive but quite a few questions remain to be solved. Too important questions for buying it right away when released.

Ah… Very good point! I have to check if the OpenSource keyboard I use allows it… But I guess I would need to learn very well how to draw them to use them or the keyboard won’t recognize it. I would need something that allows me to learn slowly the patterns and drawing directions specifically. Something that starts giving you a pattern to draw on top and then slowly make it more difficult.

What an amazing tool! I have no need to learn Japanese but always been curious about the language and tried multiple times to learn the kana at least. Might go practicing about with this.
Is there plans to get a drawing tool to practice? That’s what mostly interests me, not just to read or write with a keyboard.
Here in Lemmy, in my experience, this goes nowhere. You put it very clearly on your second paragraph. The small crowd with a strong opinion that thinks all AI is terrible in Lemmy is a bigger or at least more active group than the opposite. And with no ability to consider opposite points of view.
As a developer, most others I know of actually like the ai technology and use it as a way to analyze big amount of data quickly or as a starting point, while at the same time basically all hate the corporate AI side of things, specially idiotic managers and ceo-like asshats that keep pushing AI for all the wrong reasons and in all the wrong ways.
