The thought of being remembered for something so bland and boring is weirdly scary to me. Maybe Felix was on to something when he talked about how settler-colonialism hollows out your soul and kills any culture, creativity or national identity you might’ve otherwise had.

the idf treats rank like kids in a playground do
part of the reason they’re so shit at being an army
“tell me major, how long have you been a soldier?”
“about six months”
Don’t worry comrade. In about 2 years when things finally pop off we will all have the rank of commander. Look into the military structure I’m Kurdistan. Because everyone is equal, the only rank is “commander.”
At first I was like: “Huh, so she’s like what, 25? 26?”
> 20
What the actual fuck.
I’m twenty.
I could never imagine myself in such a position right now, at this moment. I’m too young and stupid for this shit, and now I kinda know why she’s dead.
How did Israel manage for decades to have everyone convinced they had one of the most capable and professional militaries on Earth? A 20 year old Major, that isn’t even old enough for most people to have acquired a 4 year university degree. It’s literally impossible to end up a Major at age 20 in pretty much every professional military on earth.
For fks sake, officers often are required to have a 4 year university degree to get their first commission and start out something equivalent to 2nd lieutenant. Even when there is a national draft and a military is filled with conscripts, you tend to see the enlisted have a bit of rank inflation but commissioned officers tend to be older due to the education requirements.
