I remember when that whole thing went down, that I’d wait a bit for thier Response. Since then I must admit, I’ve been much out of the Loop. Did they ever Respond or even acknowledge it?

I’ve also been Saving up for a FW12, and with me having almost enough to order one I think its plenty Important to revisit this… so now that the Dust has settled, what do you all think?

Let me preface with this : I own a framework 13 and I recommended framework until the controversy.

Framework is pricier than any other alternative and have a weaker supply chain of spare parts, the only upside of framework should be an ethical one. You buy framework because their values not because it’s the best option. Framework talking about “big tent” while sponsoring outright facist ( There is no other word for DHH ) is not acceptable and is a spit to the face to all people who choose to believe in them to push for ethical hardware.

I would recommended only buying framework on technical merits or going for another manufacturer like tuxedo, starlabs or slimbook or the mainstream one ( Lenovo, dell ).

The Ethical side is definetly a huge part of my Interest in Framework as a Company, but I must admit the biggest reason I wanna get a FW12 is the Upgradability and Repairability. To be able to keep using the Same Laptop for the ages basically.

However is that worth supporting DHH by Proxy for that? I’ve been assuming with thier response being the Big Tent Strat that they have decided to keep supporting Hyperland right?

Can’t repair another laptop though. I don’t purchase anything on the ethics of a company or I wouldn’t purchase anything.

For me the “ethical” hardware is an alignment with the ease of repair and their DIY swap out modules.

You can’t be a company in a captilsit system and have ethics that align with mine, so if I adopted what you are suggesting, I’d never be able to buy anything… at all, ever.
