Hi, I’m lana a non-binary person cursed with being french. I like to produce garbage code, cooking and gardening. My body is holding together with tape and denial and I’m all out of tape.

  • I would rank Marine LePen higher. She is the heir to a political party that was created by litteral nazis ( including her father that keep making antisemitic statement ).

Hope Agnès Pannier-Runacher make it on the list as she is the most partial president the assembly ever saw.

Sophia Chikirou is also a fan of Russia imperialism if I remember right.

  • Let me preface with this : I own a framework 13 and I recommended framework until the controversy.

Framework is pricier than any other alternative and have a weaker supply chain of spare parts, the only upside of framework should be an ethical one. You buy framework because their values not because it’s the best option. Framework talking about “big tent” while sponsoring outright facist ( There is no other word for DHH ) is not acceptable and is a spit to the face to all people who choose to believe in them to push for ethical hardware.

I would recommended only buying framework on technical merits or going for another manufacturer like tuxedo, starlabs or slimbook or the mainstream one ( Lenovo, dell ).

  • The claims are that they were working with/for hamas according to documents they found.

I didn’t read all the reports and may have missed something but I don’t have the energy to find and debunk Israël claims. The fact remains : you don’t get to drone bomb humanitarian convoys and whatever justification that come afterward is meaningless.

  • Tired of people being “dont’ make an open-source app then xD”.

This letter has nothing against the hobyist that theme their system for fun and everything against distro that put their own stylesheet as default breaking something and leaving the maintenance burden to the app dev.

And before I hear “Word that differently then” I want people to remeber the main way you will see this is as a github badge and that other aproch have already been tried over the course of the last 15 last years. Hell I’ve been guilty of reporting an issue with an app because the ubuntu gtk2 stylesheet was breaking icons.

    Sorry for the incoherent rambling.

  • I want to add my experience to this :

I’m disabled, on a good day I just get tired pretty fast. On a bad day even walking hurt and I need to rest every 15 min or so. I can’t drive because I have narcolepsia.

You would think that I would love getting around car but I don’t. When everything is made for car I need to walk a lot more even if someone drives me because parkings tend to not have a lot of benches and everything is farther because parking take space. It also makes crossing street horrible because I have to wait a long time for cars to stop.

If everything is bike friendly dedicated transport is faster and can afford to stop exactly where I need it and when I need it. I can take the bus, tram or train if something is too far, and I can stop when I need because bus stop have benches. On top of that everything is closser together since there little or no parking so a 15 min walk get me to more places. If i need to take a lot of grocerie I can just take a chariot, the only downside is sometimes there is noisy kids in the bus but this is solved by noise canceling headphones.

I know this is my experience ( which is obviously not universal ) and public transit / bikes are not a silver bullet that fixes everything mobility wise but earing the “bike centric infrastructure is ableist” rant feels downright insulting when it’s the thing that allow me to not depend on friends driving me.

  • Pretty good post about the situation. I would just add a few thing :

The harasement from the hyperland project got so bad they are banned from FreeDesktop.org and I’ve seen how many talented people gave up on working on the Linux ecosystem because of that.

Right to repair does not match well with right wing politics (TL;DR AuthRight need control and in lib-right absolute capitalism having reparable stuff is a surefire to kill your company ) but it’s a murky and difficult subject so I understand why it’s not mentioned.

Also of note, framework didn’t advertise thoose project on fedi/mastodon so this seems like they had known from the start a backlash would occur.
