Anthony Joshua gave a speech at a BLM rally in 2020. Kinda cool, kinda cringe. During most of the speech, he chastises other protestors for being violent and instead encourages investment in black-owned businesses. He says he’s anti-gang and supports corporations. By spending most of the Black Lives Matter speech talking about ‘gang violence’, it feels like he has accepted a right wing worldview of police violence.
I was reading his wikipedia article before bothering to crop the photo and he seemed very squishlib. Not as toxic as what I imagine the generic boxer to be, but not a radical beyond some kind of relationship to black nationalism. To me it’s ideologically on par with a Luigi Mangione meme. I decided to go ahead with it for the poetry of the image. .I only looked into it because a lot of fighters tend to be types like Joe Rogan, Andrew Tate, Bryce Mitchell.
Anthony Joshua seems far less bad than I expected.
The man who regularly engages in violence for personal gain encourages you to protest peacefully.

I considered using a Jake Paul injury picture instead to illustrate the same point, but as much as working in emergency medicine numbed me to gore it’s such a violent punch that it makes me recoil like the Charlie Kirk video does. The worst injuries for me are ones where the body isn’t supposed to do that and this is probably literally a scene from Looney Tunes.
