The closest equivalent to actually existing paid marxists is public servants in AES states who work for the communist vanguard party; people who spend their working lives devoted to addressing the needs of the people.
So they are paying her the highest compliment, accusing her of being such. But they think it’s a bad thing because they don’t have the first clue what being a public servant is or what a marxist is for that matter, and they couldn’t care less about the needs of regular people. They work for the capitalist/imperialist and they are paid to dismiss anything or anyone who challenges that.
