Good morning and happy new year, fellow sobernauts, IWNDWYT, 😁!
We may be anonymous strangers on the internet, but we have one thing in common. We may be a world apart, but we’re here together!
Welcome to the 24 hour pledge! I’m pledging myself to not drinking today, and invite you to do the same. Maybe you’re new to c/stop drinking and have a hard time deciding what to do next. Maybe you’re like me and feel you need a daily commitment or maybe you’ve been sober for a long time and want to inspire others.
It doesn’t matter if you’re still hung over from a three day bender or been sober for years, if you just woke up or have already completed a sober day. For the next 24 hours, let’s not drink alcohol!

Well, it happened. I’ve been struggling with my energy for a while now and now I’ve been given the wake-up call. I think I already knew but my liver is not up to the task of filtering my lifestyle.
New Year, new me I guess, if I want to live in any way better I have to make some real changes.
I’m okay not drinking for a couple of weeks, like an emergency detox if I feared addiction. But I honestly can’t recall the last time I went a month without alcohol.
Currently my liver is in a stage of being overly fatty. This is reverseable as far as I know. So I really now have to commit to drastically decrease my alcohol intake and change the way I eat.
I quit 1 year ago today. You can do it! For the first month, I tried to consume as much information as possible about the negative health effects of alcohol so I could reprogram my brain to have a negative reaction when I see it.
Congratulations!!
Thank you!
welcome, we’re glad to have you here. There’s lots of resources in the various pinned posts. I view it a bit like scaffolding. You’re building a new thing, and you need structure and support to get you there. But everyone’s building a new thing that’s unique to them, so will need a unique scaffold of support. There’s no one way to achieve sobriety.
