For those not wanting to watch the thesis is this:
Minnesota, unlike many other major metropolitan areas, is not estimated to be home to even a statistically relevant portion of the undocumented immigrant population of the US. It is very, very minor nationally. Minnesota, and specifically the twin cities area, is being targeted by a paramilitary army focused chaos and destruction as part of a political project that dates back years and is the latest skirmish in what the author refers to as the “culture wars” or the “Minnesota BAD” outrage economy.
in the larger picture of the US, he believes this deployment is a test case to instituting martial law across the US (to maintain order as the imperial project fails, contradictions sharpen, and class tension heighten, cool zone etc etc). Minnesota has been chosen for its recent past and larger history of left struggle and meant to provoke a violent response that can be leveraged to assert the legitimacy of the federal government at a time when the foundations are cracking. “see here are all these antifa super soldiers we are protecting you from!” it is also assumed that because minnesota never voted for trump or his mutants anyway, there’s little to lose in pissing everyone there off even more, making it kind of ideal in attempting to enforce some suspension or dismantling of its democratic processes for the upcoming primaries. if they are successful, they win big. if it blows up in their face, well the administration was going to lose there anyway.
I have to say as someone who prefers articles to videos, this one is pretty well done. it has tremendous footage showing the scope of the protests and demonstrations while talking about how massively they have grown in size during literally sub 0F temps as the community mobilizes against them. it is not dispassionate, but it is calm and straightforward.
- first 9 minutes are spent on current events (Jan 2026)
- next 5 minutes are spent on historical context
- last 3 minutes are spent on the putting it together under the outrage economy / imperial decline analysis.
Thanks for this, I’ve had a long day and no energy to do this kind o of write up. North Star Radio does some good content but is also a little invested in the steamer Hasan v Ethan conflict that’s been going on for about a year+ now. To be fair though I believe Ethan Klein is trying to or did try to ruin this dudes life for being a “terrorist supporter”.
no prob. i don’t know the channel at all (NSR) and was annoyed at the clickbaity video title, but when i saw it was only 18 minutes i figured i’d give it a few minutes of my time rather than spend that few minutes of my time complaining.
since it was immediately obvious as decently made and had good insight (without making me super angry), i watched it all. i get why they make titles like this, but i still don’t like it.
the time the video spends on recent events was worth it alone, because i mostly have been catching stray headlines with the legacy media’s shit takes since videos of these extrajudicial executions and the kidnappings going on in our streets only serve to make me impulsively angry. i’m grateful this wasn’t that, and instead just laid a timeline of events out while providing visuals for deeper insight and critical engagement. that library raid of 50 agents rounding up 2 guys was very instructive. and the overhead footage of the general strike was some real shit. that’s the kind of shit that doesn’t make national reporting, or when it is, it’s mischaracterized.
I didn’t know there were schools going full remote. That gave me flash backs to covid because I do IT work in schools, but now I have a kid there in PreK. Just fucking unreal to think about. I would be in helping deploy Chromebooks and iPads while dodging fucking ICE to do so… Giving remote support to staff… Just heartbreaking. Utterly heartbreaking to think about.
Maybe put some key points here? I have no interest to watch you tube.
I would’ve liked the same thing.
Here are some points I gathered:
- Minnesota is the battleground for culture wars.
- Right now the war includes experiments, like sending ICE and indoctrinating people who believe Trump’s bullshit.
- The end-stage of this is using marshal law in all of the United States to end democracy in the USA.
Thank you.
