Yeah, that’s how much I used to pay for Google Play Music+YouTube Premium together.
For just YouTube without ads, I’d maybe consider it for, like, $2.99 because I’d like the convenience of being able to use it on my Chromecast again, but $8/mo is just beyond the pale.
With how much YouTube a lot of people watch the money they for is reasonable at the moment, but you give them an inch and they’ll take a mile. If subscribing to YouTube gets fully normalized than they’ll add even more expensive tiers, increase the prices in general, re-introduce ads into higher tiers and paywall the entire platform altogether. I wouldn’t go anywhere near that platform for this reason.

I don’t have a spygle account, but I consider the idea of logging in to be a pretty serious downside. The fact that it even supports logging into such a service makes me less likely to use it.

Makes no sense to give background play without music capability. and I have to admit the mobile queuing system is a godsend to the mobile YouTube experience.
It kind of makes sense since people have been using YouTube for music long before YouTube music is a thing.
