For those of us who have lived overseas in exile for any period of time, the US leaving it citizens stranded is SOP. I’ve lived thru five military coups in various places and the attitude of the embassy was always hunker down, stay out of certain areas, and you are on your own. USans have seen too many movies and TV shows where the US sends in transport planes to rescue it citizenry, when in fact, they don’t give a shit about you. They’d blow you up with a Reaper Drone if you lived beside someone they wanted to kill. I’m actually shocked they don’t contract it out to a company that can charge people for any rescue effort. The only reason it is in the news is because US citizens are trapped in Isntreal.

That was a wild read. Basically politico going on and on about how various imperialists are pissed off that they weren’t looped in on the war plans and using USians stranded in the region as a way of making their displeasure with it sound more selfless. Never mind that they started a war against a country that would have preferred peace, no, no, you see the problem is the poor wittle imperialists being left out of the loop.
