It was the last chance fans had to complain about something new, so they piled on.
LOST and Game of Thrones had bad or at least controversial endings, but still received high viewership and ratings. Fans will tune in regardless, and the haters will tune in to watch the dumpster fire.
As for The Boys, I personally think it fell off a while ago. I like it, but I don’t really like the way it went. I haven’t started the fifth season yet. I will watch it eventually. I do want to see how it ends. I just feel like it’s too much like what’s actually going on in the world. I watch TV to get away from all that. Everything about Homelander and his whole cult/Vought is just depressing. I like the idea of an evil Superman/All Might, but the parallels to real life annoy me.
