I’m not entirely sure what it was, maybe I just figured out how to run correctly, but randomly tonight I was able to run three times as far without stopping to walk as I was the previous time!
It’s still not very far yet just about 600 m but still very pleased with my sudden increase in progress. Being a beginner is great because you get to improve so fast lol. Anyway I finished running about 1.2 km and then walking the last 800 m before taking a long break.
Plan to walk one more km.
If anyone else has had any improvements or struggles recently please share below I want to be inspired or encourage somebody with my seemingly boundless optimism right now haha

I’m glad you’re having a good time of things.
I think if you’re interested in determining the difference, probably the thing to do is identify the limiting variable normally and compare it to how you felt after running further this time. For instance (and I’m not saying you did this, it’s just an obvious example), someone can run a given distance while being careless about proper breathing and feel like they are dying at the end, or focus on breathing the whole time and then feel basically fine while running the same distance even a little faster. Same with changing gait, eating something more appropriate at a more appropriate time beforehand, being more appropriately hydrated, doing a better job stretching beforehand, pacing yourself better at the start of the run, etc. There are also external variables like heat and humidity.
There are periods of time where I did a lot of running, but I’m not really an expert on the subject, so I’m just spitballing from personal experience and there will surely be other people who know more about this and can give more actionable advice.
It did cool down a bit this week 🤔
The big thing is the gait change I think. Before I never really felt anything in my calves previously but today by the end they were more tired than my quads or my lungs!
I guess thinking about it may be something I look into later, but for now keeping it simple and watching the number move up seems to be a good spot. Thanks for the info I’m sure to look into it in the future!
