They just have different colours and environments around them. There used to be non standard maps in competitive, some of them were oval, or otherwise differently shaped. See here: https://liquipedia.net/rocketleague/Category:Non-Standard_Maps If Smash Maps were all the exact same shape with different textures your point would be valid.
