Scrapping Blade is how you know it’s just racism
It’s impossible to fuck up Blade unless it’s on purpose
If I recall the problem with Blade was that they kept trying to inject all the little MCUisms, connected universe, cameos, and such so it ended up becoming an unworkable mess.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ some motherfuckers are always trying to ice-skate uphill

They don’t know it’s open season on all suck heads.

This guy does a lot of similar bits and is damn good
I found a YouTube link in your comment. Here are links to the same video on alternative frontends that protect your privacy:
The original blade movies were unironically really good (except for Blade Trinity).
I agree it’s not good, but I was like 8 at the time it came out and had a blast watching Trinity.
we need a word for movies like this, there are so many c- movies that just hit so fucking hard when your a kid watching them from a half way point because they were on.
Mahershala Ali has been on contract for 10 years for it btw, he’s 55 years old now still waiting for his role in a movie that will never be made
He’s now just admitting it’s not gonna happen. The guy who was gonna direct it is even coming out with a different movie starring Mahershala Ali where he owns regular non-vampire dudes with a sword.
It’s an interesting choice of naming.
If he still looks like that photo he’s got time. I was wondering how they got Wesley Snipes to look so young and good
I have seen 6 MCU movies and half were guardians of the galaxy. Even id go see a new Blade movie. Its fucking Blade
Yes but they’re not in the good shit business, they’re in the slop business.
The Blade trilogy is peak slop for its era, and not for nothing but we’re in peak early 00s nostalgia right now a movie where a guy fights vampires in black leather would do gangbusters
When Don Cheadle replaced Terrence Howard as War Machine for “Iron Man 2”, then-Marvel CEO Ike Perlmutter said nobody would notice because black people all “look the same”.
To be fair, it was an upgrade. Also his first line is “it’s me, I’m here, deal with it” fully calling the fact that it’s a different actor so Perlmutter is just a racist piece of trash.
I liked Terrence Howard as Rhodie more, him and RDJ had a better chemistry as buddies imo. I fully acknowledge that Don Cheadle is probably a better person and I seem to be in the minority with this opinion, though.
100% liked his portrayal more but I think it’s also me missing the initial vibe of the first movie. It was a comfort movie for a while a decade ago.
Then again I was basically a child and I liked that the desert villain greets Tony Stark with a cheerful Arabic hello, not quite having it sink in what it means. I read it more like Arabs are being put in movies and isn’t that neato and not “ah shit this is me to a lot of people”.
Mostly though I miss the novelty of nerd bullshit being made into big productions. I followed the marvel stuff semi religiously and then just suddenly couldn’t care about any of it
Kang got hit on a metoo rap, but losing blade is a crime. And wonder man would have been some dope shit
I do think it’s funny that Kang, a character who is infamous for having a multitude of appearances from his various incarnations through history, simply couldn’t be portrayed by a different actor
they made the brilliant decision in Loki that every version of him had to be played by the same guy
They could’ve easily retconned that if they really wanted to. I’m not really sure all that many people watched that show anyway.
Loki was watched the most out of all the shows, and the record for highest viewers on Disney+.
I agree they could retcon, but it was a really well received/watched show.
I totally get that Kang got scrapped because Majors is an abuser. With that said, as you said, Blade would have been an easy win and scrapping three movies with Black main protagonists still smells like bullshit to me.
I didn’t even wanna watch it, but they could have just recast majors. They already did it before, why the weird insistence on not recasting people?
I believe Blade had some problems with developing it (aka Disney/Marvel didn’t give a shit and didn’t push to get the movie made except for just early casting and script writting). Then that Deadpool movie happened with Wesley Snipes returning as Blade (that movie was just a bunch of marvel references the movie), and then Disney decided to scrap the Blade reboot.
I heard that the extras in Sinners wore costumes that were originally going to be used for the Blade reboot.
That could be true. I think a Blade reboot was sort of going to be hard to make because you already have Disney being racist and having zero interest in POC heroes/characters. And there were the Original Blade Trilogy Fans who wanted something like the first two Blade movies instead of the usual MCU stuff.
It sucks, too, because Blade was one of those iconic early successes in comic movies.
It’s huge bullshit. They put blade in a game! But no movie? Shit sucks
They put blade in a game!
…also recently canceled.

I was thinking tokon fighters, the new marvel fighting game. They canceled a solo Blade game? CURSE YOU LIVE SERVICE FANS
…oh I’m sorry, this is going to hurt…
They canceled a solo Blade game that had been in development at Arkane Studios… You know, the Dishonored folks…
…and also shut down the studio…
…I’m sorry you had to hear about it this way…

I was unaware that Arkane was going to make it.

Capitalism is a death cult… the KIND BLADE WOULD FIGHT
At least we have Midnight Suns. That fucking book club social plot is so great.
They also dropped monica rambeau after the marvels. No mention of her on doomwar also no Storm too
Probably had an idea to use her as the intro character for bringing the X-Men into the MCU proper
Wonderman got released. Cancelled after one season.
Plus bringing Chris Evans back as Captain America when Anthony Mackie is right there lol.
They did Anthony Mackie really dirty. Twisted Metal proved to me he could carry as a lead in an action-comedy franchise, which is what the MCU basically is. They just gave him the worst script ever in his Captain America theatrical debut of New World Order.
And oh hey, look, another black man, too…
Twisted Metal helped turn my partner’s opinion on him around. She hated his performance in S2 of Altered Carbon.
I feel like he got the treatment John “they won’t Disney Plus me” Boyega was avoiding with his run on Star Wars. His first co-lead performance was that Falcon and Winter Soldier show, then he got a single (poorly written and probably poorly resourced) movie to star in, and now he’s second fiddle to Chris Evans again in an already crowded cast.
I also heard he wasn’t great in Altered Carbon, but I’ve never watched that one. I thought he did well enough in Falcon and the Winter Soldier and the major problems in that
movie*TV show were the hastily written lib ending and the classic liberal “swerve” on the mostly sympathetic victim, with the most cliched “kick the dog” moment ever.So did John Boyega refuse MCU roles or something? I don’t recall this quote you referenced or know the context. If so, sounds like it was a good idea. Although I haven’t seen him anything in awhile, but I’m sure he’s set with the Star Wars money.
IIRC the Boyega thing was during the press run for Rise of Skywalker and he was half-joking (and probably fucking tired), but the “direct to streaming” stuff had a real stigma and mediocre pay. I think Disney had been renewing contracts with their franchise actors to have the right to pull them into those shows and he had already felt burnt by his role in the ST (fr they did him dirty tho).
I wouldn’t be surprised if he ended up in the MCU if he leaned into the Disney work. Oscar Isaac ended up in Moon Knight (we’re not getting a season 2 of that, are we…), so it’s a realistic hypothetical scenario lol.
I haven’t seen a lot of his stuff post-Star Wars, but They Cloned Tyrone was pretty funny and Pacific Rim 2 was ass lol. Like you said, he seems like one of those post-franchise young actors who can be a bit more picky. Robert Pattinson has had a cool career, I’m hoping John Boyega lands some good roles.
Marvel Studios, frantically turning a big dial labled "Racism"In the 1950s “Commie Smasher” Captain America and Bucky, specifically William Burnside and Jack Monroe, fought against the Soviet spy, the Second Red Skull (because the stories were written as straightforward Red Scare propaganda, this Red Skull was a ruthless communist operative working to destroy America from within). Their comics heavily targeted Soviet and Asian communist threats during the Red Scare, Marvel later retconned the characters’ jingoistic extremism to critique 1950s McCarthyism.
When Stan Lee and Jack Kirby revived the original Steve Rogers in 1964 (The Avengers #4), they established that Rogers had been frozen in ice since 1945. This created a glaring plot hole: Who were the Captain America and Bucky fighting communists in the 1950s? In 1972, writer Steve Englehart solved this discrepancy by fundamentally altering who these characters were, switching their narrative roles entirely. They were unmasked as fanatic copycats, later named William Burnside and Jack Monroe. Burnside had legally changed his name and undergone plastic surgery to look exactly like Steve Rogers. They were reimagined as tragic, terrifying villains who represented right-wing extremism.
The duo traveled to predominantly Black areas, specifically launching violent, unprovoked physical attacks against innocent residents in Harlem, New York and Watts, Los Angeles. Because of their deep Red Scare brainwashing, the pair viewed any societal changes, including the early Civil Rights Movement and the increased assertiveness of African Americans, as a literal Soviet plot to overthrow America. They violently beat Black citizens while falsely accusing them of being communist spies or “pinkos” trying to destroy the country.
It’s no longer open season on all suckheads 😞
Mfw im iceskating and encounter an uphill incline
Link to article?
its not an article (that I know of)
I forgot the mcu was still a thing. Their movies aren’t doing as well over here as they used to
To be fair, Armor Wars is a terrible title.
I saw this image before, but guys Wonderman got released: https://www.imdb.com/pt/title/tt21066182/ they changed the name to Magnum, and nobody watched it.
The series is just called Magnum in Brazil though, thats how the character was localized there. Elsewhere it’s still called Wonderman.

The translations of super hero names always confuses me. Some are translated, other are not, some doesn’t make any sense, why the fuck Magnum?

Most comics are read by kids or teens, and back in the day in LatAm there were laws promoting local language (Spanish and Portuguese) over anglophilic words. Which is why we got stuff like Bruce Wayne = Bruno Diaz, and Speedy = Ricardito. In the 1990s I believe Panini (the italian company) bought the publishing rights to the DC and Marvel and changed a lot of names back to the Original ones.
why the fuck Magnum?
Wonderman would probably be confusing due to the sound W make in portuguese, besides translating to Homem-Maravilha would make people think it was a knockoff of Wonder Woman. Magnum is just a random cool name they though of it back in the day, also it could be a reference to Magnum P.I. idk lol.
besides translating to Homem-Maravilha would make people think it was a knockoff of Wonder Woman
Tbh in English that was already my first thought. What the fuck is a wonder man? Wonder Woman isn’t even owned by you what is happening
To make things even more confusing, the Earth-11 Wonder Woman (the male version) is called Wonderous Man.
Speedy = Ricardito
No fucking way Ricardito is not called Ricardito in English
I think he goes by Red Arrow or Arsenal instead of Speedy nowadays anyway, or one of his clones does idk.
I bet its so that they can keep the same artwork by flipping the W in Wonderman into an M
cause she has a magnum dong

No yeah at least one season of wonderman is out, I watched it, it was fine. But they cancellled season 2
Did they made season 2 of anything besides Loki?
I think Daredevil and some of the animated stuff.
I don’t know, I never watched any of their shows except wonderman.
I thought the Kang thing was because Majors wound up being outed as a domestic abuser. But that is still a curious pattern, for sure…
“What do microcontrollers have to do- Oh, Marvel Comic Universe. Got it.”
Cinematic, not comic, I think lol
Some MCU defenders were claiming it was Mahershala Ali fault Blade wasnt made like he had tyranical control over Kevin Feige the dude that runs the MCU
hm…
