Finished Expedition 33 and it was very good!
My biggest issues is that at the end the enemies were getting pretty tiring to fight. Though I did not attempt it at a lower difficulty then normal.
Also, I wish they did the thing a lot of turn based games do now a days and let you restart the fight. I mean you basically do that when you die anyway.
And then finally…the story end.

So I wouldn’t have a issue as much but both endings treat the canvas people as not important. You spend the entire game learning and caring about this entire world and the people. You watch them struggle to get to live. To have the right to live outside the tyranny of this family. But in the end its like the narrative forgot about it and just focus on the narrative of grief and Verso vs Maelle.
Like I love this game but found this very frustrating. It kind of felt like they were hoping that we would just forget that these are people with real lives inside this world.
Obviously Verso should be able to be at peace. Obviously Maelle needs to learn to let go and become her own person. But none of these French petite bourgeoisie see the world as valid. Even by the end Maelle just sees the world as something to be used.
Though unintentionally wonderful example of how such power can fuck with a person.
But yeah. It bugs the hell out of me that it seems like we can’t really save them. (No way it ends well in Maelle ending). Like rubs me the wrong way as a communist.
But generally speaking I enjoyed it and will probably be on my mind a lot. Def recommend it. Especially if you want a new age turn based.
I parried instead of getting defense, this allowed for more damage output and buffs/debuffs. It also forced me to basically semi-perfect every boss (i still used revives).
I feel like parrying turns it into a low level rhythm game haha
The issue is I sucked at parrying lol. I even failed a lot with dodging. I was playing on the TV so others could watch so that might of had something to do with it but I’ve not been the best as rythem games anyway.
