Nietzsche wrote about it, but I think a term from the SCP Foundation sums it up nicely: some information about our world poses a memetic hazard. If you see the world clearly enough you are forever changed, and not in a good way. Knowledge is not power, it’s a burden you can’t put down that no one can help you with.
