I knew people in hungary who had grandparents who were older by ~32 years. Now the legal age to have children is 16 but they used to be even more lenient with it so there were cases where the agegap was less than 30. Imagine being 18 and your grandma is 48 and your mom is 33. These are what i knew personally but due to the horrible conditions and lack of sex-ed in the east there were girls whod get pregnant at basically the ages of puberty. I didnt even know you could have a child at 12 before i heard a girl having to get an abortion at that age. Just imagine what your childhood was like and what theirs is like. Ita cruel. I really went down a rabbithole here, didnt i?

      sexed

the space is important here for comprehension: sex ed

valid message; it’s cruel for children to be robbed of their childhoods with this trash, and it’s fucking ALWAYS the chud garbage pedo types that prey on them. It happens in the US south too - many states allow raped girls to marry their abusers and have obscene age-of-consent and marriage laws.

I mean the rates amongst them are higher rue to centuries of systematic racism and segregation, but its not just them. Its mostly dependent on how poor you are and what happens with romanis is that theyre much more exposed to poverty thus things that happen to poor people happen more to them.

No but why does that matter to you? I was just talking about the affects of poverty and a government not giving a shit.

Because I’m aware of the phenomenon within their community, but not outside of it.

I think that focusing soley on their poverty misses the fact that they are a distinct group that successfully defended assimilation.

  • I was 9 when they came out, and 10 when I bought mine by saving my allowance and getting a used one. Wanted FF7 but store didn’t have it. Got MGS instead. Forgot to get a memory card, so I left the PS1 running for a whole week until I could get one and finally save.

Damn, it looks like you’re right. I was too young to remember back then. Memory cards are pretty essential to most games on these consoles.

      Good!

I had friends who didn’t even make it to 30. If the price of not dying young is watching all the things you loved become obscure then I’m okay with that. There’s worse things than growing old.

Also, there’s something really special about a young person discovering something from your golden age and finding it interesting. Some of the kids in my life are getting into retro computing and electronics and being able to share that with them is awesome. Plus you get to cop that whole “I was there Gandalf” vibe.

We got to live through some cool stuff. We’re old and dusty but now we get to educate the youngings.

Late 90s. I woulda been in my late teens, and I’m definitely old enough to have grandchildren.

Yeah usually I just cut the cable off and throw it away between gaming sessions, then wire a new one when I want to play again.

How else are you supposed to store the cable?
