Hope this trend continues. My Pixel has a solid 5 years left easily but after that this’d be great. Looking at Framework laptops as well.
Cool computers, but Framework supports fascists
Looks like a relatively closed issue https://www.theregister.com/software/2025/10/14/framework-flame-war-erupts-over-linux-controversy/1466815
Wow a group funded by Linus Tech Tips turns out to be full of chuds, color me surprised
I’m in the US and bought one. Put LineageOS on it, and I’m really enjoying it. It has like double the battery life of my old phone, and I don’t know if that’s because of the phone or because none of my apps are constantly uploading my personal data.
My Sony’s battery lasts a week in sparse use with /e/OS. It was the surveillance wasting energy.
Which sony runs e/os? I like their phones, had no idea they were compatible with e/os
Several are able to run Lineage (I believe a lot of the 1 series as well as a couple of the 5 and 10 series too), and since e/OS is based on Lineage, they can more easily support it. Check the link the other person commented!
CalyxOS
Relocked bootloader for security, banking apps in seperate user profits, built-in work profiles for the more needed but shit apps.
I am loving it on my fairphone 6 so far, and the flasher tool was very easy and it automatically triggers the locking steps so you can’t mess it up.
I bought two a few weeks ago. One my wife and I, each. We both love it so far. Also because we just barely missed the promo for free fairbuds, they supplied us with two gift cards for equivalent deal.
Fantastic customer service.
The only thing it’s missing is graphene OS support :(
May i interest you in Linux support instead?
I would’ve gotten this if I could (not available in India). And just to let you know, you’re the only reason I want this device.
Does Linux actually work on the 6+? I haven’t been able to find any info on compatibility other than it supposedly existing.
The Fairphone (Gen. 6) and Fairphone (Gen. 6+) are software-compatible, so you can install the Nura image on either model.
https://wiki.nura.eco/wiki/Fairphone_(Gen._6)_(fairphone-fp6)
If someone is not familiar with Nura, it was previously known as the PostmarketOS but changed the name last week.
I should add that Jolla is a Finnish, Linux-first phone. Runs Sailfish.
In an old secondary phone for testing sure! Not confident enough to have this on my main phone
CalyxOS works on it too reportedly.
Really really enjoying calyx on my fairphone 6 (non plus).
Also iodéOS, IIRC
Responsive fingerprint scanner
PTSD triggered xd
A thousand dollars?!?! Sorry, I ain’t no thousandaire.
Dollaridoos?
Sells for $649.99 / £569 (roughly AU$1,100)
I’ve tried to finding if they’d work in Australia so i can import one. Our telcos are super restrictive about phones becase we shut 3G and coaling our emergency number is fraught with issues on many phones
Worryingly Murena (main /e/OS developer) is not selling it there:
https://murena.com/products/smartphones/?wcpbc-manual-country=AUFuck our politicians for this. Yet another let industry decide legislation bullshit decision.
I have one too, really like it. Performamce is pretty much on par with my previous phone, Pixel 7, though battery is much better. The slow USB-c port sucks, but fortunately I can use an SD card for large file transfers. I just had to get a case because the body is a bit too slippery for me.
If it’s just for file transfers, have you tried local send? That’s only limited by your local connection speed to your own network. Any 2 devices on the same network can transfer arbitrarily many/large files back and forth
Yea i’ve used copyparty a few times, it does work reliably and fast
I quite fancy a FP6 / FP6+, but unfortunately my FP3+ is still going strong with it’s 2nd battery and 2nd USB port (due to cheap cables wearing it out), so I’ll probably have to keep using it for another few years… 😉
Canadian checking in: I can haz?
Not from Murena (main /e/OS developer):

I own the FP6 and my mother owns the FP6+. We’re both happy with it.
Dang, I was looking to get a new phone for myself, but that price is just too much for me. Looks like I’ll just buy a used pixel 8
Oh, so does this mean it’s popular enough for a bunch of people to buy as much of them as possible and sell them in the US at %500 percent of what they’re worth?
Because that’s what will happen.
if it becomes a successful brand it will get BANNED
Maybe so, but the US is just a side quest for them anyway. It certainly won’t be banned in the EU.
