Legit question do people took this as real cuz how the fuck can you monopolize egg production/logistics? More so in the 1940

Simple answer: You point guns at anyone who has chickens and take their eggs from them. Then with the money you make from selling all those eggs you hire others to point the guns for you and then you’ll have a monopoly before you know it. (note: this only really works during a warlord era when there’s no one to stop you)

I think poultry farms are easy to scale, industral feed can be cheaper than traditional methods. And honestly traditional methods suck at producing enough volume. here in mexico Bachoco produces most of the eggs and poultry, I live in a small country town in the middle of the rainforest most people here have hens, but the local shop still sells Bachoco eggs, because the one or 2 hens people have don’t produce enough eggs for a family and Bachoco eggs are cheap enough. To put it in perspective, an industrial chicken can be half or even a third of the prices per kg as a local chicken. And it’s much fattier and tastier.

There are other large industrial brands but they are very minor.

Ok im that time it was probably very doable if say you were a main landowner surrounding a major city, easier if it’s a coastal city in a land protrusion. But that’s just ONE city.

I think it’s more a matter of how impoverished the pesantry are, if they have enough land, food waste, to keep many hens, there is no place for an egg monopoly, if they can’t, there is always sulprus demand. And so there is a place for industrial egg producers. Older Chinese people seem to be very nostalgic about eggs, so they were probably more impoverished than modern Mexican peasants.

That being said, you are correct, it’s likely her grandpa had to he egg monopoly in a small region rather than all of china.

Never stops to think that her rich landlord parents would have probably married her off to some other rich freak to secure land rights and her dream of being a rich gaddabout would be more like being treated like a piece of meat

I think if she was born after 1949, and she speaks as though she is a few generations removed, then if there was no revolution and we just assume things went sort of like they were going under the KMT before that point, then there’s still a substantial chance that she would have had her feet bound but most likely it would not have happened. It was already declining when the communists banned it (despite the KMT failing to ban it), though the decline was slower in rural areas like her family was in. At least, that’s my understanding. It wasn’t like in the previous century where, if her ancestors had that social position then as well, basically every woman probably had her feet bound.

I am a direct ancestor descendant to John Dudley 1st Duke of Northumberland (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Dudley,_1st_Duke_of_Northumberland) and if the wicked Tudor dynasty didn’t win the War of the Roses and execute their top advisors (twice, his son was also executed and demoted by Henry VII’s son Henry VIII cause he sucked at his job) I’d be royalty rather than having my failson family flee to North America to avoid royal persecution. I’d be the first cool trans girlboss duchess in the UK. And if his plot to usurp the crown succeeded (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lady_Jane_Grey), I’d possibly be the first monarcho-communist trans queen of the UK trans-sad

Fun fact we have family lore that we’ve been atheists for a quite a long time, him converting was just cynical

hey it’s that thing when reactionaries claim that left leaning critiques of society are just blaming other people for your problems, but as with all reactionary accusations it’s just projection.

TL;DR: “Life would have been awesome if only I could be educated and move to the city.”

…I have some bad news about American capitalism. Should I start with the fact urban life is a “rich people thing” here, or should I start with the post civil rights temper tantrum destruction of all public works? Decisions decisions…

If it wasn’t for a certain band of hunter gatherers deciding to settle down and try agriculture, I would’ve never had to deal with the hard work and constant struggle of modern capitalist life.

If it wasn’t for the Greek civil war, I would have been rich. I would’ve been part of the nobility in my country, with my grandparents never being displaced, with all of their inheritance.

Oh wait, they were driven out of their homes by monarchists, and my great grandparents were bourgeois scum that never planned to give out inheritance.

    whoops
