Far too many adults, some barely more than teenagers themselves, simply do not see children and teenagers as human beings worthy of the same basic respect as any of their social peers. Which is a very big problem. Children are still learning how to handle the human experience and need the most grace and patience and understanding of us all, and yet so often are the people in society extended the least of those things by the rest of us. We expect children to just swallow things we’d tell nearly every adult to never stand for.
