I am in China right now picking up some stuff before I head back to vietnam, it has way better infrastructure than any other country I’ve been to, last week I took a highspeed train 200 miles for ~16USD.
Yes, that’s the point. There’s no money available to be invested into the well-being of the state because they’re not currently investing money into the slave labor.
In the US, there is money, it just goes to private prisons.
Actual rehabilitation would be an investment that benefits our whole society a thousand times over, just not a handful billionaires. There’s more motive for them to make life worse for all of us in an ever steepening descent into slavery and extinction.
This is just one reason capitalism is becoming an increasingly existential threat to our entire species and all other complex life on Earth. How can we stave off impending doom when there’s no parasitical get-rich-quick scheme solution to problems caused by parasitical get-rich-quick schemes?
Wonder what it would be like if they spent the same amount of effort and money making people think it’s not a shithole by making it not a shithole?
