As someone who’s been in I.T for more than 2 weeks, this is objectively terrifying; not the power of Claude to make us stupid, but the complete relinquishment of agency over the means, method, and the product.

Wow is this guy gonna end up in a bind.

IMO the end-game business goal is to own the means of production for basic human actions. AI Bros love to shout how it enables everyone to do everything, but they leave off the part where they get to skim off the top because all of those activities cost tokens. You can create any image or movie you want! (But you need to pay us for the compute.) You can create you own apps! (If you have the budget for it this month.) The linked blog also fails to mention the cost factor. Sorry bro, I don’t want my OS to be powered by a subscription model.

A world where creativity and intelligence are metered utilities is the most dystopian thing I can imagine. And I really feel like that’s the world they’re trying to create.

There’s a similar fear indeed I feel regarding it, too…
I do also recall the following blog read:

There is a darker, conspiratorial interpretation of today’s hardware trends…
That’s paranoia… or is it? If you think that dystopian…
The reason I’m writing all of this isn’t to create panic, but to help put things into perspective…

Source: https://マリウス.com/hold-on-to-your-hardware/ (Hold on to Your Hardware…)

Meanwhile, we should be careful, since there’s fear and anxiety, yes… yet rants, politics, and some scopes of information flow are either unintentionally spread (e.g. by someone who is deep into trends flow) or intentionally/specially designed to be used for manipulative effect to de-focus you/us from our viewpoints, create fractures in dreams, hopes, and derail us from chosen, genuine, always important actual paths for actually meaningful and magnificent miracles… our duties, beliefs…

When you’re watching television, you’re watching the news, you’re being pumped full of fear, there’s floods, there’s aids, there’s murder, cut to commercial, buy the Acura, buy the Colgate…
Keep everyone afraid, and they’ll consume…

When someone was willing to drown with me, I really didn’t want to drown anymore…

        ~ Marilyn Manson

Therefore, it’s always important to keep the peace in mind, and keep the infinitely marvelous light closer to the heart flowing within brilliant Jazz of steady notes of fathom…

        Come and go, please…
        And watch it swallow me…
        I bleed…
Toe the line… Toe the line… Toe the line…

~ Lean Into It - Wayside

        There’s… hope…

Claude handled installing Homebrew packages, creating private keys, adding them to the keychain

And probably adding the private keys to the training data and handing it to every partner who pays for it?

I’m going to be extremely pedantic and explain that this post is actually pro-AI and I hate it. The original essay about the whole “you will own nothing and be happy” wasn’t a threat or a warning, it was a utopian message about goods and services being almost too cheap to charge for. It was basically saying that in the future, people will look back on the ownership of cars as silly when you can get a cleaner and more reliable ride anywhere anytime without having to deal with maintenance and other ownership headaches.

I use Wispr Flow to talk with Claude, explain the topic and tell it to read my past blog posts to write in my style.

Does this guy really think his post doesn’t sound obviously written by AI?
