I love this thing they do, where they pretend to take what you say in the dumbest way possible so they can give you an office Jim look and then go back to doomscrolling

“Hey, it looks like what these people are doing is working.”

“Oh, you want me to Naruto run at a main battle tank and try to crawl down the barrel? You want me to strip naked in the street, paint myself red and fistfight the entire police force one by one? Yeah I’m pretty sure if I do that I’ll die you fuckin idiot.”

I don’t know how many are knowingly justifying their own apathy versus how many are genuinely so lost in the propaganda sauce that they actually think this dying empire’s paper tiger state forces are unbeatable. Either way it’s a pathetic, wormlike mindset. “Noooo we can’t do aaanything cause they’ll drop the MOAB on us, nobody has ever beaten the mighty American military, I guess we just have to submit and go to work and buy burger and not think about it anymore.😔”

This made me laugh, thanks. People really can be fatalistic about it.

Revolutions aren’t won by firepower alone. Sure, the US has tanks, but they would have to occupy every street corner of every major city to outmanoeuvre an increasingly disciplined proletariat as the class struggle turns ever more political, which is a logistical impossibility.

Also, the capitalist state will use violence against revolutionaries and reformists alike thereby forcing even reformists to adopt more violent tactics as revolution becomes the increasingly obvious answer. Reformists will never just stay reformists.

It must be so terrible and demoralizing to only perceive yourself as a single inconsequential drop of water the way these pessimistic people do, instead of as part of a raging tide. A flood gets everywhere, seeps into everything and sweeps aside resistance to reform landscapes in minutes. They have to break out of the great man theory and realize that they can each be a neuron in the unstoppable colossus of a conscious proletariat.

It’s doubtful that meaningful reforms will get established within the US state project, so in that narrow sense “nothing will get better” is sort of probably accurate, but the future of the region can be bright, provided its residents organize for liberation.

A lot of people in the US did protest in 2020. Some of them “peaceful parades”, but some went further than that, and there was a lot of “the police doing exactly what was being protested” (brutalizing people). I remember reading I think a Yogthos post here, an article from years later, about some black organizers who had turned up dead under suspicious circumstances. Like implied but not proven assassination. Given the racism of the country, whether they were assassinated by the state or local racists, I don’t know.

Now the extent to which the US protesters were willing to confront cops on their terms (the protester’s terms), I don’t remember well. I know there were scenes of people DIY geared out to deal with riot cops and clashes with them in the sense of like trying not to be overwhelmed / brutalized by them, but the Euro clashes I’m seeing on here where cops are on the run seem different. I recall one rare case in 2020 where a cop-related building was set on fire, but I’m not sure if it was ever clear whether that was organic protesters or false flag style stuff to fuel the “people rioting” narrative. There was also the very short-lived CHAZ. It’s not like nobody risked anything in those protests.

The circumstances were also different. The 2020 protests were characterized by the desire to protest and push back against police brutality generally and racially motivated police brutality more specifically. In my understanding of it, I’d characterize the anti-state elements it had as anarchist more than anything else, but I also don’t think those elements were a very strong part of the protests. The majority of it seemed to be backed by sincere (naive) belief in the constitution and the right to peaceful protest and so on; there was something of this thing going on like “look at how they brutalized me” as if highlighting the brutality to enough people would cause things to change. I so far haven’t see the Euro protests falling into this trap, that pacifistic victimhood will earn them critical mass of resistance from the general population. That part is something people in the US could learn from. The bravery part is sorta relative. Liberation needs people who are brave, but the struggle still needs to be carried out in a strategic way wherever possible. Plenty of people in 2020 were brave to go out there in spite of the high chance of getting brutalized by cops, but getting brutalized by cops also didn’t end police brutality. Bravery + strategy is key.

American police are a cult and they are conditioned to consider themselves separate from society and also as victims.

There’s rumours that people have died and french police are hiding them in ice cream trucks. Probably false rumors but gives a sense for how violent the response is turning out

The issue is not giving up but letting their movements be usurped and funneled into electoral pageantry aka Donation-scamming of the Democrats.

A lot of leaders are also murked, which are waved off as „suicide“ or drug overdoses.

Hilarious cope, but claiming that French police are more violent than American cops is genuinely laughable. American cops will straight put a bullet through your skull during a protest and then arrest everyone trying to help you.

French cops run away when fire fighters blow fire extinguishers at them.
