The author colored the text boxes, only thing more obvious would be a red circle and arrows…
I guess different people key into different cues.
No it’s definitely bad, it’s like breaking the 180 rule in film
And actually colouring the text boxes is not good either

I can see why the cartoonist made the choice: To keep the flow of dialogue balloons going, but I agree it makes it confusing, and there are better ways to do it.
They may have realized their mistake by the 4th panel, but at that point they were committed to the panel layout and didn’t want to rework the art or word balloons.
Yeah, I’ve got a yellow filter on my phone to reduce migraines, and I didn’t notice the different color bubbles at all.
