Ummm, so it’s been about 10 days now since I stopped taking cypro. I’m effectively on monotherapy now, only valerate injections.

I take 5mg of EV every 4 days. I’m a bit worried, because last time, my trough was only 110pg/ml at this dosage…and now I’m not taking cypro. So I’m worried my T will rise.

What also fuels my worries is what’s been happening to my body. I don’t smell worse or any different really, my skin seems the same, I’m not any oiler…but my libido is definitely changing. And…I’m not sure I like it.

I just have a higher libido in general (you’ve seen my 196 posts lol). I have dirty thoughts waaaay more often and these thoughts also cause reactions in me…meaning erections (ew, hate it).

They’re nothing like they were pre-HRT, but still…I’m not sure it’s a good thing. There’s also something else…
I noticed that there’s more…leakage…than there ever was before. Just from arousal, not climax (I haven’t had one in a loooong time). There’s like literally a string of whatever the fuck this clear fluid is…

There was never any leakage before and I certainly didn’t have this much functionality…and I’m not sure I like it tbh. If you told me it was normal and that mono was working, I’d be like “cool”. But since I’m only getting a blood test in a couple of weeks, I’m worried…I’m worried my T is rising and I’m ruining my transition. I’m afraid I’ll lose a whole month of HRT because of mono…

Basically…I desperately need some words of comfort right now please. I’m actually freaking out, cause HRT is like one of the most important things to me. And I really want everything to go well…
Please girlies, HALP 😭

From my experience: EV monotherapy suppressed T just fine, for years. My libido was pretty much always higher on injection day, and my levels were never in danger of “ruining” things.

I did progesterone for probably 5 years, the last 3.5 were oral because I was sick of administering it after a while. Stopping it didn’t really seem to undo much by then.

I’m no expert, can only repeat what I was told… that E do not work without getting rid of T. As having T nullify E, that’s why transmasc do not need any blockers of their natural E, they just get T, and the T override E, job done. Maybe with enough amount of E, natural amount of T wouldn’t do the thing? But that big amount of E wouldn’t be risky on other aspects? My source on that is only rumoured. Personally, Quick research points that mono E have weaker/partial effects only, if that’s what You want, then maybe? I wouldn’t risk it without asking the doc first.

For now, lets hug, much. <HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUG>

I’m not sure about mono having lesser effects. I think it’s pretty popular in the transfem community. But, at the first sign of problems, I’m hopping back on cypro.

I take 4mg of EV once per week, and at 3.5 days post injection I just tested 296 pg/mL. My T is 26 ng/dL.

I’ve been on EV monotherapy (I do also take progesterone) for about 3 years, and I’ve been EV injections for ~6 years, with pills for about a year before that. I was on spironolactone for my T blocker up until I switched to monotherapy.

I get similar leakage to what you’ve described, though I was getting that while on my tblocker as well. The only thing that really changed for me after switching to monotherapy was no more side effects from the spiro (mainly, I’m not always thirsty while also needing to pee all the time).

I’m glad it’s working for you! Happy for you 🩷

I have a question tho. Why do you test midweek? The most important measurement is the trough, which is right before the next injection. You want to be measuring the lowest E levels you have, is that not correct?

      Thanks for the comment 💜
I was taking cypro, so removing that made me feel a lot better. I’m doing good! <3

As for the timing, that is when my doctor prefers to test. He’s my primary care doctor who primarily takes trans clients for primary care and hormone therapy.

I do not know his reasoning, but I’ve been going to him for 3 years and he’s the one who switched me to monotherapy. I believe he’s more interested in the “average” level, rather than either extreme, as for most of the days you’ll be closer to that than the peak or the trough. He factors the testing timing into determining what an appropriate level is, and he’s stated that mine is slightly on the high end for what he finds acceptable, but as I feel good at this level, he’s kept me on this dose since we got it dialed in about 3 years ago. Is it the best method? 🤷‍♀️ I don’t know.

I do know this dose works much better for me than my previous provider. I had a lot of mood swings because they had me on a higher dose (10mg) on a longer interval (every 14 days instead of 7).

I’m glad removing the cypro has made you feel better, and I’m glad you’re doing good!

Totally normal sis. My libido fluctuates a lot with my hormone injection cycle. The clear fluid is a change but you get used to it. Your cowper glands secrete pre-seminal fluid in a similar way to Bartholin’s glands do for people with vulvas.

Ive never really confirmed it but my understanding was that Bartholin’s glands produce more fluid than Cowper glands do to fully lubricate the vagina. So now that youre on E your body increases the production of the fluid from your cowper glands.

You can more or less think of it as getting wet.

That makes sense! I just wasn’t sure, as this had never happened before. Probably one of the many effects of cypro. Huh. Thank you! 🩷

Yeah that’s perfectly normal, I’ve been on mono for w while and this is normal for me, as long as the pre is clear and not white, it means T is suppressed :)

Estrogen Monotherapy will suppress T once the dosage is right. The fluid being clear is an indication of low T I believe.

The problem is, it’s either 5mg every 3 days, which makes my trough go up to 800+pg/ml or 5mg every 4 days, which resulted in 110pg/ml last time. And I can’t easily change the dosage without inconsistency, cause it’s a single-use ampule.

This official valerate kinda sucks 😭

what’s wrong with 800pg/mL? my trough levels are like 1000 and i know plenty of people who are significantly higher than that and have been for years. unless you have a family history of blood clotting, it should be just fine

To be fair, I have lower T than most cis women.

And there is no panties of mine left without leakage 🤭 Even if I’m probably less horny than you (but any sexual stimulation I feel it sooo much)

I kinda understood that the leakage part was, in fact, expected throughout the transition ?

Sorry, HRT I’m not still there yet … but I think it’s okay girl and you should be fine.

Please dear people roaming here, catch me if I am wrong here, I just try to comfort my sister T_T

      I thought leakage as in incontinence is expected during HRT, which yeah, happens too ;-;

But this is different. This is purely from arousal and it’s like…it’s the closest to getting wet I’ve ever gotten. Which is cool, but I’m worried it’s my T 😭

      I’m so worried it’s my T rising omfg 😭😭😭
